Default Court date times in Baltimore City

Hi,

I understand this can vary depending on a lot of factors - but what is the average/approximate wait time before you get a notice to appear in the court in the mail?

I got a speeding ticket in Baltimore downtown - which I plan to contest in the court. I sent out the letter along with the citation last week - so was wondering when I can expect the letter in the mail. (Hate to keep checking the mail box every day with anxiety!).

Thanks!

how did u get a speeding ticket in bmore, only time i saw the cops gunning/dui checkpoint was last night at the lil wayne concert. check the ticket since differnt states(possibly counties) either send you the date, but in va its printed on the ticket itself. or go to the mva website

You pleaded not guilty? Could be several months. Judges are tied-up convicting "not guilty" speeders.

What are you going to contest about? were you not speeding?

Pleading "not guilty" then show up in court and pleading "guilty" may annoy the judge. Good luck.

Sorry if I misstated earlier, but I do plan to plead guilty - From what I've heard so far, this being my first ticket, if I do plead guilty (saying, sorry, this is my first offense, I'll be more careful yada yada - at least I won't get the points on my ticket).

((On a lighter note, maybe I should watch 'My Cousin Vinny' once more to understand the proper code of conduct at the court ))

Youre better off watching the wire if youre going to Bmore.

anh is wise. Bring some crumpled up tint with you and say you took that off too because you thought the officer might have had a hard time seeing you when he pulled you over for speeding.

May I ask what street you were on? I live downtown and speed around bmore all the time, sometimes even passing cops. I've even seen cars run dead red lights in front of cops and get away with it. Living here for almost 3 years, I got the sense that cops here are too lazy to write up traffic tickets.

^1 i probably speed threw baltimore more than i drive the speed limit, they usually got bigger things to worry about then a speeder. Not that it make it legal but ive never had an issue in bmore, or d.c. for that matter.

95/270 is a whole nother matter.

You can always tell the judge that you are signed up for drivers education at Summit Point, WV.

This is on Clinton Street (in Canton) - getting onto Keith Avenue to 95.

The disgusting thing is, I drive on this street everyday and I've seen cops pull over people at that spot a bunch of times. Don't know what I was thinking the other day...well, apparently I wasn't thinking.

Im guessing you were nailed by one of these MTA guys, not city cops. I was out shooting pics over the weekend and was in Caton and found their lair. MTA cops are douches, they only write out speeding tickets as far as I know

As to your situation, plead guilty with an explanation. Say how that area is very industrial and not residential, low-volume traffic, and you've seen those cops speed up and down that street all the time

Update:

I had my court appearance this morning (yeah, I didn't know it would be that early).

While I waited for my turn, I kept thinking of what to say for my 'Guilty with Explanation' plea. Anyways, the judge calls out my name - I walk to the podium and he says the officer is not here so your case is dismissed!

I was pleasantly surprised - 'coz from what I had heard, when you pleased 'guilty with explanation' the cop does not require to be in the court.

Anyway - so I immediately walk out of the court (had to rush to work) and saw my cop walking in! I guess he was a little too late. In that rush, I forgot to get the letter from the court saying my case was dismissed. Hopefully I can contact them and have them mail it to me.

Thanks you all for your responses.
