Default New to the forum: Quick question

Hey guys and gals,

I am coming over from bimmerforums just to say hey and to also see if any one with an 03-06 Z wants to have a run against my M Coupe? I don't make much power but I have run a best time of 13.48@100mph with an M50 manifold and catback only and on street tires. I have yet to run the car with the 3.73lsd (up from stock gearing which is 3.23lsd). I have trapped 102mph several times FYI. My car weighs 3130lbs with me in it and about a 1/2 tank of gas. It is just the S52 motor in my M Coupe which is the same as the E36 OBD2 M3 engine. Stock it has 240bhp and 236tq, but with my dyno numbers I am somewhere around 250bhp/tq (212rwhp/211rwtq) so not much more than stock.

This is a friendly question and I am in no way trying to stir up trouble. Some of the folks over at bimmerforums are also nissan drivers and are members here as well. I am just curious how my car would fair against an 03-06 Z. I know the 07 HR Z would rape me, but it seems as though the older models would be a good run. I have raced some Z's in the past and have not lost, but there are too many variables when racing on the street and after the race is done both people go their separate ways so you never know if they were in the wrong gear or if they missed a gear or if their car was running poorly so track runs would be best to appease the high and mighty law abiders who do not exceed the speed limit. I just want to get a couple of decent runs with a lightly modded or even stock Z (i.e. something comparable to my cars bolt ons) at the track preferably.

I live in woodbridge so if you are interested send me a pm or email me.

Thanks,

Jon

There's some crazy races going down in 2 weeks at this secret location - BMWs, Hondas, Acuras, 350zs, G35s, RX7s etc... I heard they're closing off the roads. PM the Zero Gravity crew or (bb1314), heard they be rollin' deep ... but me?.. I just like to stand next to my car.

Ask any racer, any real racer, it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile........

Seriously though, we could run down to old dominion or run on the street as long as the road is clear of any traffic.

Would you like the slowest Z or the fastest Z in the area? Or somewhere in between...?!

If you're looking for the Slowest Z + Worst Driver Combo, I'll nominate myself

for pink slips, sure thing, say when? bring your title, and if there is a lienholder on the car, then sorry, not interested

for fun? no thanks

seriously though, street racing is lame, soliciting street racing is even lamer. Maybe I sound my age, I don't know, but keep it on the track where you can actually learn how to drive your car against a given set of fixed circumstances, vs being one of those idiots who gives our hobby a bad name

Just one that has minor bolt ons such as my car. I really only have 3 bolt ons so I would imagine a stock Z or a minor bolt on Z would be best. Of course if the driver is a noob that probably won't work because I am not a noob driver and know how to drive my car. Here is a vid of me running with the M50 Manifold. It was only a 13.6 but my best run is a 13.48:

Edit: Woops, wrong vid. Here is the right one:

If you pay for the track time, myself or maybe berto would give you a run.

I apologize. I normally do most of my racing on the track. I have just got into auto crossing, but because most of my friends have LSx cars I tend to go the the drag strip.

The only way I would street race is if the roads were clear and only in a straight line. I lost a brother to a car accident (not racing related) so that is ever in the forefront of my mind.

There are plenty of instances where driving fast on the street does not put others lives in danger.

If you want to race for pinks, then I am good for that as long as you are good with taking over my car payment.

Have you ever run down the 1/4 mile? If so what was your time? If you aren't running mid to low 13's then you aren't going to be much competition for me. I am NOT going to pay to race you. If noone is interested in a friendly race whether on the street (NO TRAFFIC) or on the track (track preferably of course) then I understand.
