Haha yeah...

I "had work done" and failed the car on the retest. I then walked into the office and with a receipt in hand for just having all 4 O2 sensors replaced I Explained I had work done and didnt understand why the car was throwing a CEL.

The lady asked to see the car and that I pop the hood.

Me: Are you looking for the 02 sensors?
Her: Oh yeah, I need to see the new sensors
Me: You cant see them from above the engine bay, the highest bank is near the transmission tunnel, the others are seen on a lift under the car.
Her: Oh no, you can always see them
Me: Okkkk, if you say so, let me know when you give up.

5 minutes later she walks back into the office and says "sign here and here for the exemption and put your shop info here"

Done and done Not a problem for another 2yrs....

I was def nervous walking into the office, if that planned failed I would have my tags suspended and couldnt "legally" drive my car.

I havent been pulled over in the Z in YEARS, but when/if I do, it wont be for tint you know...the last thing I'd need on top of the tickets would be driving with suspended tags.

I bought the Z in 07 but haven't gotten anything saying I need to go in for emissions... Can I just go in and do it at my own will or do they need summon me? =/

Dude you definatly want to check with the MVA about that. The same thing happened to me when I first bought my maxima in 04 and I got pulled over like 2 years later and got a fat ticket because my tags were suspended due to emissions. Luckily the judge was cool and didnt make me pay the ticket.

I got an extension until 6/9/10. I'm only worried about the TP's being an issue. Might just erase the codes, drive it around for a little bit, then go take the test.

Some people will tell you drive it 100 miles before you go. I drove mine 50 miles and within 11 miles had thrown a code for cam timing being off (Haltech). If you erase a code and take it IMMEDIATELY in it will show up as just being clear and they will tell you to come back.

If I had kept driving the code for o2 sensors being bad would have also been added to the list as they were during the first fail (o2 sensors + cam timing).

I have gone NA + testpipes thru emissions with no issues at all. The car is too low and the pipes to close to the center of the car for them to see it with their "up the skirt" mirrors they use.

If your NA + testpipes + O2 codes then just clear your codes and figure out after how many miles the CEL comes on by doing this a few times. Then clear it again and drive right under that limit and run it clean thru emissions! Easy.

My situation sucked cuz Id need to change the cam timing back to stock and change the tune to eliminate those codes.

Congrats on getting it done.

Im thankful Im not in MD any longer like some of you. I got around even having to attempt the emissions test due to not all VA counties requiring emissions.

Inspections don't bother me (MD or VA). Those aren't done by computers.

Haven't failed once in all the years Ive owned it.

Yeah I just did my emissions a couple weeks ago but ive never had any problems. I even popped a flame pulling into emissions with the employees smiling as I pulled up. I always get scared I'm gonna get hassled for being catless but they just check for cel or code's and I'm out.
