Why is it so hard....
to find a job when you live in a different state? I mean I understand that the interview process would have to be over the phone but it is getting really old not hearing anything back from employers. My company is taking their sweet old time on getting me a transfer down to Va Beach. I've been waiting four months now and it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. I've started putting in applications with other employers in that area but still nothing. I'm almost to the point of just quitting and moving down that way to find a job. You would think that someone with years of retail management experience wouldn't be having this hard of a time. Sorry to rant, but this is just getting crappier and crappier by the day lol. Anyone know of any companies willing to take a risk, i guess as you would probably call it, and hire someone from out of state?
That's normal with most companies unless they're looking for an immediate position that is absolutely necessary to fill. In most cases, an in-person interview is the best ticket to landing the job. Why hire a guy a 1000 miles away when you can have someone right here walk through your door. You just have to put yourself in the position of your employer.

yeah i know.. i'm seriously about to go serve up some fries and find another crap job just to survive down there for awhile until I can find something that suits me better. Last time I was down I stopped into some stores of my current employer and they had all their positions filled. Is your McD's hiring, Abui? lol

If Joe Schmoe with no car nor education can land a job at 711 at any given town/city, I'm sure any flippin' idiot could finding something within a month's time so you shouldn't worry. Come on over to the east coast, I'm sure the locals would surely help you out. Mid-A is cool like that.

I respect a man who can work it up from scratch. Even if you might get paid $7/hr. Nonetheless, if you try hard enough, I don't see you being without a job for any longer than a month.

My girl already said she's not worried about me paying anything for awhile.. she's got the houseing payments taken care of.. she just wants me there... so as long as I can cover my normal bills for awhile.. i'll be cool... cost of living really isn't much different there than here in Columbus, OH.. food is a lil more and then there's the food tax.. which i'm def not use to lol. Shocked me the first time i went through a DQ drivethru and I was like, "ummm i think you taxed me on my stuff I just bought" the girl looked at me funny like I was retarded lol. I think I got a line on a few jobs like the Bud plant in Williamsburg, a company that does stuff with cell phone towers and a security job at EVMS... so i'm hoping one of those pans out... hell I even applied at Wal-Mart.. i SWORE i'd never work there after knowing how they treat their suppliers.. but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.. thanks for the support Abui and Barney

not really sure what you do specifically but i know that my boyfriends company fills contracts all over the country and he does all of the hiring over the phone from CA. but if you go on to prideindustries.com you might be able to find a job posting that fits.
hope this helps someone.

PRIDE Industries, one of the nation's largest employers of people with disabilities, provides a selection of outsourcing solutions to meet the manufacturing and service needs of Fortune 500 companies and government agencies nationwide.
no what they do is create jobs for people with disabilities and when you create a job for someone with disabilities that automatically creates a job for someone without. they also have several government contracts they need to fill. so that is their main goal but not all employees. (i think 73% of employees are people with disabilities) just look at the job postings.

its not you..its your approach.
if you want to move fast, get a recruiter man. yeah they take a few K from your annual salary but at least you get the job. My last 4 gigs have been through TEK Systems. They are IT for the most part but they do health care and many others...
look them up and look up other recruiters..they have relationships with the companies so as long as your recruiter likes you, the company will like you.
good luck. I have a few friends in va beach also.
look up CityMonkey and see if he has some connections for you, he lives down there and so does Halfass... PM them guys and tell them I told you that maybe they can help because they live in VA BEACH.

FYI all applications online are done via software word search scans...
when you apply for a job online you must rewrite your resume to include every key word search in the job posting....(MULTIPLE TIMES). I have about 50 versions of my resume online and I get about a job offer a day! LOL
Moster, Hot Jobs, 6 figure, DICE, and Job Animal
good luck

Last point... You can walk into a car dealership and start working on the spot. I pulled down 6500 my first month back in 2003 when I could not find an engineering job. Thats a good place to go if you need cash ASAP if you want to move and not have a job lined up. I would go to a smaller used car dealer, they make like 5K a car in profit at the minum.
new cars suck 250-300 a car!
Sold a used Prowler....make 1500 on that car alone! hehehehe. But I also broke records..14 cars in 13 days...as a rookie...lol
