Man killed on rt. 50 this morning! R.I.P.!!
I came into work this morning to find a ton of news station's trucks, helicopters, etc. in front of my work, on Eastbound Rt. 50. All that was left of this tradgedy was the tractor trailer, a ton of deisel fuel on the road, and a few police. My prayers go out to the family and friends!

no matter what its jail time in IL if you hit a worker. some have seen more than 25 years for hitting workers...
slow down people. cars are dangerous.
pick and choose when to play, text, and speed. Not in construction zones thats for daum sure.

the road was clear when I got to work. The tractor trailer was getting towed away, and a few police on the side of the road
According the Washington Post, the victim was a Highway Dept contract worker and as of right now, they have no idea why he was out there at that time of night (1-2am) and without a spotter which is mandatory.

I don't know about the dui part, you may be correct. It has only been a little ove a day. As far as everything else, he was out their picking up the traffic counting equipment, which I saw was gone afte the accident. He also had a truck with lights on it, and his reflective gear. In Mayland, their is no mandatory spotter, you just have to have the service light and reflective gear.
If you watch the video in the link I posted, it tells you all about why he was out their. His company was contracting for the state highway admin.

Authorities investigating the death of a highway worker killed by a hit-and-run driver on Route 50 in Anne Arundel County early Thursday say the contract employee was violating protocols that might have saved his life.
Normally when the contracting company that deploys devices that track traffic volume plans to work on their equipment they e-mail the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) in advance and either a state vehicle with flashing lights or a state police patrol car with flashing lights is dispatched to alert approaching drivers of the work zone, according to David Buck of the SHA.
In this instance, Buck said, the state received no prior notification and the man was working alone on a dark stretch of Route 50 eastbound between Route 2 and Baydale Drive.
His vehicle was parked on the right shoulder, and he was struck in the left lane of three, Buck said. It was not clear whether he was laying down or taking up the slender rubber tubes that are put across all lanes and connected to a counter box that normally is chained to the guard rail.

and what is that from? it says nothing about a spotter, 2 it says he must have a state truck with flashing lights, sounds like an official statement. That is 100% untrue. I know this because when we (at my dealer) have to go out on service calls, we by law have to wear reflective gear, and have our light turned on.
Either way, it doesn't really matter to me, but that quote above is not from anyone that actually knows what they are talking about
