Default Control Arm Bushings

Still can't figure out why my front [driver's side] control arm is knocking. One possible suggestion was the bushing may be worn out [on a 5 y/o vehicle???]. Anyone know if i can buy new bushings at the NISSAN service/parts department?

it's a common issue on Z's and G's - the inner is particularly prone to failure, though the outer is known to go as well particularly on lowered cars. It's inexpensive and easy to fix though

the bushings are not replaceable from Nissan directly - they only sell the complete control arm.

Whiteline and SPL offer replacements

Whiteline: https://my350z.com/forum/suspension/...-bushings.html

inner Whitelines are in stock, outers are currently backordered till id to late July from what we're told

SPL: http://z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?model...ng&prodid=4136

are available

Just buy the cusco arms and call it a day. Never had a problem with bushings on mine.

There is also a Nismo bushing set from Nissan that replaces all the bushings in your entire car. Might be like a 2k labor job to do that, but its very worth it!

^Just downloaded some options from *********. I'm still puzzled why they[control arms] decided to go out and if being up on jackstands as opposed to a lift played any role in this.

^Thanks E10. The Parts Dept where i usually go for service said i was the first one to ever ask about replacing bushings and that they are only sold with a new control arm and not separately.

Are you talking about the lower control arm bushing where the shock bolts through?

Both jack stands and a lift would hold the car up in the air using jack points. when a car is lifted the suspension will sag, my guess is when it was sagging one of the bushings tore? not really sure what could have happened, but either way whatever broke must have been on its way out.

Default HALP!!!

HALP!!!!! Ok, i found a set of Cusco front control arms online listing at $429, but then I found a set of Meagans for $288 that "seem" just as good.

http://www.350zupgrades.com/advanced...h9p9i8n8iepp91

Is is just a matter of the name brand that justifies the higher cost or does anyone know if the Cuscos are better? And does anyone have a link to some cheaper ones? Paul said $400 sounded high for these.

the Cusco pricing all changed for 2010, so has gone up vs this time last year (about a $40 difference)
