Hey everyone,
I lurk on this side of the forum from time to time, sometimes I'm at the carshows too! Im going to school full time at University of Maryland. I live in Silver Spring, University Blvd. to be exact. Im living in a townhouse but I dont have a parking space for my Nissan Xterra DD. I have to park it on the other side of the living complex, which I dont mind.
Well a little about me if you care to read:
Here's the situation: My 06' 350z is in Arkansas locked up in my parents garage. The only time I get to drive the car is when Im home visiting.
I bought the car used from Eastern motors in Manassas, VA. and I had it up here from Dec.08-June 09. I know the roads up here suck and im well aware of that. The thing is I pay 450 for 6 months of full coverage in case something were to happen to my car and I dont get to drive it
My roomate owns a 07' 350z that somewhat resembles mine. Every time I go outside I look at his car and I miss mine. Whenever I'm at the car shows I feel that I can spend all day starring at the cars that belong to my fellow members.
I would really like to finish my education up here because im closer to WRAMC and University of Maryland is just down the road. In Arkansas I would have to commute 30min to go to college and the VA hospital is 2hrs away.
I would like to ask you guys for advice. I want to get a storage unit for my car but I wanted to ask the members in the area for advice. To the renters; Where do you guys keep your cars? Im afraid of keeping her outside because someome might scratch, lean, or vandelize my baby.
I have an alarm btw.
I dont plan on buying a house out here, im having one built in Arkansas. Dont get me wrong, there is so much out here versus my little hicktown, but home is home.
Pics of car:

^^^The day I brought her home to meet the parents lol My christmas present to myself

^^^What she looks like rite meow
Basically what im looking for is:
-Price range that wont hurt my pocket
-A place that wont get broke into
-Good security& surveillance
-A place that I can trust
Thanks for your time.

My folks rent storage for like $25 or $50 a month or something like that, but you're 2 hours and 45 minutes away. It's in a basement of an automotive shop, protected by two sets of garage doors.
I wish I could find a garage in the Ft Meade area to store my Z so I can make my garage into a Motorcycle garage.

So im thinking about keeping my car around Kensington, Rockville or perhaps Gaithersburg? The Silver Spring area is somewhat sketchy and I hate going to D.C for anything. So far I have these two choices:
https://www.ustoreit.com/find-storag...?facility=1376
^^^209/mth, really??? In that case id rather pay the 450 and not drive it
or
https://www.ustoreit.com/find-storag...x?facility=420
My first tuner owns a shop in Gaithersburg, but it is more than I intended to drive to keep my car stored.
I dont think Ill need climate control anymore, the weather is alot nicer. Suggestions anyone? I know for a fact most of you guys are military, where do you guys keep your cars???

If you want to do it the cheap way: find some huge office building you can park at where no one will notice theres an extra car there. I know there was this one dude at my building who basically had "free garage parking" for the past 3-5 years and never got towed. He would move it from spot to spot every now and then, but other than that it stayed in one spot for the longest time ever and no one ever cared. No one tampered with it either as the police station was literally next door.
There is a covered and airconditioned/heated storage right out front of the main gate...
Forget the name of the place i was going to use them before i decided to build the z while in afghanistan.
It's right across from the base. That place has live in managers, not sure how they would like it if people went in/out late at night with loud cars. Does anyone know how much room those storage places have when a car is in one of them? I looked into prices awhile back and things just didn't add up. like 150-200 a month for one big enough for a car.

I go to Ft. Meade 2 a month so that could potentially be an option but I would love to have a place within the 20min. radius. I thought about the garage rental thing on craigs list but I dont feel comfortable renting from a stranger. I dont think that makes me picky, just caustious.
