Where do you get info on EVO school and who runs this?

Evo school is the preeminent autocross school in the nation. All the instructors are current or past national champions. It is run by Mike "Jr" Johnson. He is technically a member of WDCR, but only runs a national schedule. He is a 293402394 time national champion (or some number close to that), and all around good guy. The cost is $250 per "phase." The third phase is really oriented towards upper level, national guys, but doesn't mean you can't sign up for it eventually.

Mike and his co-driver finished 1-2 in ASP this year at Nationals (with his co-driver edging him out by .05s) in his C6 Z06.....the car is insanely fast.

I'm going to run in the afternoon. I have to change tires and all that non sense. Prefer not having to wake up at 5:15 if I don't have too. I'll be down there around 10:45-11. Hopefully it stays dry and I can catch the second heat...

Roberto, I may not make it tomorrow after all. My dog has developed a stomach bug, and is very under the weather. If he is feeling better tomorrow, I may still come, but it is now somewhat unlikely. Good luck tomorrow if I don't make it.

Did you finally go?? I did not see you there.

I was so frozen from working on the rain that I decided to pack and leave. I wanted to do the PM runs for fun, but I could not stand the cold wind with soaked shoes and clothes...

I saw you run, but my car was parked towards the rear corner of the lot. I was standing under the roofing of the stadium. I manged to run a 55.2, but I couldn't go any faster. It wasn't quite as wet in the afternoon (still wet), but the temp dropped another 5-8 degrees in the afternoon.

Too bad. I looked around but I did not see your car. So I left.

I would have liked to see your lines. There were some weird reducing radius turns on that lot today. Really weird set-up.

The course was just tossed together. The guy who was supposed to design the course didn't show. So, AJ (red civic) and James Dunham (silver MX-5) did the course. It was, I believe, the first time either had done a course. Also, they both drive small cars. There were some strange visuals, short radius turns, and tight slaloms. I don't fault them, though, they had to put something together on the fly....in less than ideal conditions.

My lines were all over the place....the car had almost no grip front or rear.

What were your times, Roberto?

I could not accelerate anywhere without tailing out. I wish our cars would come with a torsen diff instead of the Vlsd.....

Man....the car was wicked fast this weekend. Probably faster than it has ever been....and that was on 60+ run hoosiers.

AI ran a double event. 1 course in the morning...1 more in the afternoon. I finished 6th out of 16 in the Pro class in the Morning, and 5th in the afternoon. Considering the VERY high level of competition in the pro class this Sunday....I am very happy. The Pro class is a PAX only comp....so it is quite difficult with a BSP Pax

I almost raw timed Courtney Cormier, who drives the yellow vette pictured above, in the afternoon. He is the current ASP National Champion (class above mine)

Good to see you today Mike!

Glad you were able to win your co-driver even if it was because he could not get a clean run :P
Your runs look much more smooth and composed, but his runs are more over the top. He brakes a little harder and later and he applies more gas on the long sweepers.

In my case, I do not know why, but I tried to use the ABS on the car to brake harder, and I noticed that I would loose time if I trust the ABS, it still locks the wheels and makes me take longer to lower the speed of the car.

So from now on, no more ABS for me.

Sorry I had to leave so fast, but It was way later that what I thought we were going to take

See ya next weekend I guess?

Brian is a top level driver. He also instructs at the Evo school. I didn't have my best day...but I don't think I could have matched his 40.0 scratch time. I ended with a 40.91 clean.

You should have stuck around. You won a magnet trophy....

A couple of pics of my car from Saturday. ...

May need to raise the car a bit....considering I have 800lb springs...this is pretty low on tuns while trail braking...
