2011 MD/NOVA Auto-X Thread
I'm sure you saw my son spinning out a few times - #13 Red Birel Kart - he had a white helmet. I was the big fat guy helping him - too much italian cooking! He actually did better than the last time - having trouble getting rear grip to the tires; but was much better than previous week. Saw a few of Z runs after the JR Karts - they look great out there. Someone has a Black Z that was doing really well - maybe that was you. One of our favorites was still the yellow CS - it even looks fast!
We unloaded the kart in the rain when we got home - so at least you all did get your run before the rain - I heard others weren't so lucky.
Pic of my son from the previous race.

The black 350z was mine. There was a black 370z in CS this week as well...
Mike Stanley (National Champion in FSAE) was co-driving the yellow 370z yesterday. He was only 1.2s behind me in my BSP car.

I need to go check the times (names) in the system - we usually don't since my son isn't very competitive and still learning. We usually just watch what Julian does and see how close he is to that time - usually 15-20 seconds slower
He gets frustrated since we have nowhere to go to practice with the kart and that is why we are moving on probably sooner than I like to a car. But, we have multiple autocross venues around to get him more practice and time behind the wheel. Should be an interesting year next year for sure.

Your son has a knack for making work during Jr Karts
....
Julian has a future in formula cars...no doubt about it. There is a reason he is the current FJA National Champ. He was also the overall PAX winner again for Sunday.

LOL - don't want you to get too bored out there helping Jr Karts
Agreed - I expect to see Julian go far as well - his Dad as you may know already got him the Spec Miata. His family goes to my church so we speak to them on occasion - wonderful family.

It's an old point and shoot canon camera using an inexpensive seat/headrest mount. I can't remember who made the mount.
I had heard they bought an SM, but I was surprised they didn't put him in an F500. They are even less expensive than an entry SM car, but would keep him in open wheel. They are, however, quite a bit quicker than SM. There could have been some consideration there. They lap Summit Main about 5-7s faster than the fastest SM cars.
SM is a great spot to get going on track, though.

I already clinched the season championship (actually I did after 5 events)....
I am not changing anything suspension wise...I hope to mix it up a bit, but I probably won't be near the top.

Aaaaw. I just noticed that I ended up 4th in overall CS class by 1 point......
I only run 4 of the 7 events.... I would have ended 3rd if I would have run CS the second event instead of STR.... And now I would have one of those cute little orange cones.....
Sucks :P

You get one for finishing second today....
I was supposed to get a re-run on my last run, but they wouldn't let me. Ended up running a 53.0 on my first fun run. That would have been 3rd in STR out of 14. Not bad for a first attempt on very small street tires on a fast SCCA course.

Is that what it means to have a "T" after your position?
