Signature on the title. And then I also complete a Bill of Sale that I provide to you. I then go online to complete a vehicle responsibility transfer online
You take the signed title and bill of sale to DMV and they will issue you a new title. Easy. You will have no problems with the title or with the car. "

Dang man, Cali still has pink slips? I live in WV but have bought cars from WV,MD,VA, and PA and none of them do pink slips! If you buy a car from a dealer they have a notary inhouse to take care of everything. PA is stupid, if you buy from a private person you have to take the title and a bill of sale to a private notary and pay them to notarize the bill of sale. All the other states (the last time I purchased a car there) were very simple. You take the title and (both party signed) bill of sale to my DMV (WV) and I simply pay the sales tax for the amount on bill of sale and the title fee. I have never even heard of pink slips except in the tv show and old movies. To answer your question it sounds legit for VA to me. But the last time I purchased a car in VA it was an 07 Maxima from Tri-State Nissan, so it was a dealer and they took care of everything. But no slips.

Reading between the lines, I'm guessing you're both in Ca.

If he's got a clear title from Va., no problem. I don't know the procedures in Ca. for transferring title, but I have an idea. If you buy it, both of you should go to your bank and have him sign it in front of a notary. If it is a scam, you have him on tape.

 

I used to have more than 100 post counts, and for some reasons, it keep decreasing.

 

It happens if the threads you posted get deleted. But you can't deny that your username does look very shady

 

like others said, do the transaction face to face and have him sign the title in front of the notary. then take the title with both signatures to the DMV and get it transferred into your name. If there are any issues the then notary/bank have him on tape and copy of ID

 

CT doesn't have pink slips, only titles. Same with IL, where I bought my Torino from. As long as you've got the car, and the name of the person selling the car and the car's VIN number match up with what's on the title, I can't imagine it'll cause you any trouble. I can't imagine that you're the first person who's ever bought a car from a state that didn't have pink slips and tried to register it in your state.
