I usually do a big pig roast that weekend. Now that they are having the race its hard to do both. Plus I love the ALMS cars. Seeing the IRLs practice is good enough for me. Its just a preference thing I guess.

A fellow national autocrosser that I know (we used to be in the same class)....

From Pikes Peak:

Pic of aftermath:

Yuri (navigator)...just a dislocated shoulder:

Jeremy (driver)...walked away with just some bruises.

Miracle...me thinks yes.

I don't know...

Truth be told. It is beyond my comfort zone. You have to be a little bit crazy to tackle that mtn. I've been up it in a normal car (at the speed limit), and even that can be somewhat nerve-racking.

Here is Monsters in-car from 2011. The mountain is now paved all the way to the summit. There are ~150 turns, and if you get one even a little wrong you are hitting one of three thing.....people, trees or boulders the size of houses.

Oh yeah, there are virtually no guardrails and some places have over a 2,000' drop before you hit people, trees or boulders.

Another thing to keep in mind...above 12000' an NA 350z is probably slower than a prius at sea level.

I'm assuming you trailer your car when you go so far away for racing, right?

The pucker factor is such that you could turn a pebble into a diamond with your ******* once you get above the tree line. Also, this year it was snowing for the final 500' to the summit towards the end of the day.

Yes, I trailer my car to all events. Close or far.
