Unhappy Tire Guy / Hookup?

Herro My Tree Fiddy Z,

So I walk out to the Z after the gym and low and behold, my inside rear right tire (if you're standing behind the car's butt) is worn to the cords in one spot Would have never noticed if I wasn't looking for it.

Anyways, after I finished crying in a corner somewhere, I set off to find a decent set of All Seasons - a set of four since the treat on 3 out of the 4 is knocking on deaths door as we speak.

I'm running 245/35/19's in the front, and 275/35/19's in the rear. Do ya'll have a "tire guy" that's reliable / affordable (*coughs emphasis on the "affordable"*)? As much as I love NTB's awesome customer services... oh wait, they don't have that there.

- Heather

*addendum - Yes, I do realize that the wear and tear is because my alignment is god awful. gee thanks NTB for your stellar alignment job.

Discount tire on may 25-26th for memorial day. They are running a promo for $100 prepaid card. Using discount tire direct you have no tax and you can have discount tire direct match direct pricing and rebate for discount tire. Direct only has 3 warehouses so tax only in 3 states. You can stack the $100 rebate on top of Hankook $80 rebate on the EVO V12. Use www.mrrebates.com for 4% cashback and setup a secondary account to use as 20% referral cashback on the 4%. I picked up a set of kumho tires and this is how it went. It was for my wife's 2009 Camry SE 17" wheel OEM.

Also check out www.tirebuyer.com and see if discount tire will match the price and stack the rebates for you.

+$540.25 (4 kumho 4x ku22 215/55-17)
-$100 discount rebate already approved
-$50 Kumho Rebate already approved
-$24.96 Mr rebates cash back pending 60 days
-$3.99 Mr rebates referral cashback pending 60 days
-$5.40 1% credit card cashback

$355 for 4 tires

I prefer discount tires as they are less expensive once you look at the price shipped to your door. Tirerack usually advertises lower prices on the tires, but kills you in shipping price, where discounttiresdirect is always free shipping and 94% of the time tax free as well

I have a guy over here in alexandria that I go through who does some great work for a little shop. He got me some incredible prices on my wheels and tires and he did the same for some of my friends i sent in to him. If you want to you can pm me what you want and I can go over to his shop and get some prices for you. send me a couple options just in case he can only get certain ones.

UPDATE:

To put the theories to rest:

Here's the tires I decided on: General G-MAX AS-03 (needed All seasons)
Here's the sizes I needed: 2 275/25/19 (rears) and 2 245/35/19 (fronts)

Things to note:

          Now the math...

I ended up choosing Walmart (omgihatewallyworld). Why would I choose the most pricey of the three? This is why. Free install. Free shipping. $6.50 Tire Balance. $10 Road Hazard Warranty (this saved my toosh once). $20 TPMS relearn. All of which I need.

So, my recommendation? Take faiz23's epic Mr. Rebates advice and get your tires shipped to "your guy" ... I just don't have time (running on cords) and I don't have "a guy" ...

                Best o' luck!

Secondary Update... Turns out Wally world doesn't do alignments and wont balance tires with sticky weights. So yeah... Fml.

Never tried them but I like these tires for a daily driver. May also be able to drive the Z in 1-inch of snow. That would be worthwhile.

I went from Michelin Pilot Sports All-Seasons... From summer tires to those, the Z went from being an oversized paper weight in a quarter inch of snow to tearing through 2'' of snow like a freakin' jeep. HIGHLY recommended in this area.

Also, went from the Michelins to these Generals. With nearly a $600 price tag difference, I figured it would translate to a sh*tty ride, but OMG - it's like a freaking brand new car (also factoring in a balance and realignment).

Oh yeah. Walmart's tire techs do install / carry the Z's TPMS sensors and can reprogram your car of $20 in under 5 minutes. Just say no to the dealership.

Have those same General tires (different sizes 225/40/19;255/35/19) staggered on my M3. Very happy with them so far.
