So I've never taken my car to a track and never thought about it until hyperfest. I looked up prices for Summit Point and was surprised to see how expensive it was! I would have to do the Twilight track thing for $1,600 apparently because I have never done it before and would need a license?
Is there any other tracks around here that may be cheaper? Or should I just suck it up and pay for summit point?

Uh no. It's usually 225-275 per day (350-400 for both) with one of the many orgs that run events there. Most will cater to novices at no extra expense or license requirement. Just read the sups of the org you plan to run with and have your car in strong working order.
You need a TT license for trials and a Comp license for W2W racing.

How do I sign up to go for that? And as a newb who's never been on a track before, can I still do it? I'd assume I need some kind of instructor and license first before I can do it alone.
You just sign up for the novice group. It's sold out already, but to go solo you just need tine in the track. The organization will determine when youre ready for solo HPDE tracking. I wouldnt even worry about going solo yet if I were you. You need to make it to a track day first. It's no joke out there and the speeds can kill you. Again you dont need a license or have to be an instructor to go alone.

You'll get an instructor automatically by running in the Novice group. Check out the trackdaze.com website for more info. All your questions can be answered there.
I will be in a white/black 03 with funky colored wheels....they are my track set. There will be 4 in my crew. Two B7 RS4's both putting down 330 ish with mods and 1 335is with a JB tune and me with my little ole Z...hehe.
I was at hyperfest as well this past weekend running HPDE. IIRC it was $380 for the weekend: 6 25min sessions with 3 classroom sessions. NASA events can get a bit hectic schedule-wise with the road racing they squeeze into the weekends, and while I don't have anything negative to say about them, I'll probably start spending more time with TrackDaze as I believe they're a bit cheaper with more track time.
