Dudes,
I don't know either of you, so I won't at all presume to take sides, I just wanted to comment 'cause all of a sudden, I'm not "feeling the love!"

Jeff is in a tough predicament. It's called being a small business owner in a focus market. A focus market is one where the target audience is either a small group, or a group that is tightly knit.

This predicament places the challenge of "Keeping the customer happy while still trying to make a living" on Jeff. One of the ways he does this is by offering his AOL SN out to people so that they can reach out to him anytime they see him log on. How many dealership service managers would do this?

Another way he does this is by walking the "fine line of happiness". The discussion about the refund could have gone either way. It could have been taken as "(Ricky) this guy doesn't want to deal with me anymore, so he's trying to get rid of me by giving me my money back", or it could be "(Jeff) I'm having trouble making this customer happy, so maybe I should offer him a refund so I don't disgruntle him too much".

Because Jeff's market is a small one, pissing off a customer has a ripple effect that many big businesses don't even consider. Jeff is now seeing those ripples because his services are being called to question in a public forum, even though Ricky, you have been careful and polite in your remarks.

Like I said, I don't know either of you, but I would imagine that Jeff pissing off a customer in the business he's in is akin to holding the barrel to his foot and pulling the trigger, and doing so intentionally is likely the furthest thing from his mind.

I hope to get to meet both of you in the future, maybe at the same time.

Yeah I completely agree. In reply to your comment about how his refund could be taken either way.. you're perfectly on the dot. That is exactly how I feel, and by the way Jeff explains the reason he did it, you captured his argument perfectly. Only suggestion I have is when he told me he could cancle my order, he never told me anything among the lines of "Since I couldn't please you, I'll refund the money so you can be happy elsewhere".. I was just told I can get a full refund. Oh well.. like I said, what's done is done now, and there is no changing it.

Done is done!!! EXACTLY!!! So now that business is taken care of, chalk this up to a experience or a misunderstanding or whatever. You should come out on Saturday!!! Maybe this all could be 'water that needed to pass under the bridge', and now that it has, you can come check out the goodies. Hell, even if Jeff won't buy you a beer, I will....Come on!!!!!!! I wanna see your car, dude!

Besides, now that you and Jeff have felt out the "customer / sales" relationship, maybe you guys can do some more business and be on the same sheet of music.....or same tank of gas....or same pair of tires.....or (ok, I'll shut up now).

Hope you'll change your mind...I mean Christ....This meet's thread has more than any other in recent history....You owe it to yourself to come out and see that which you have created!!!

I hope to see you at the meet. We will now all go on with this.

You are right, its hard to tell a person's voice and tone behind instant message. You can only guess or assume what they are trying to say. I have been trying to offer the extra service by letting our customers reach me easier. And it have not paid off in this case to be helping me. And in the future, I'll make my choice wisely.

Thank you

Jeff - Evolution

I do agree. RICKY, maybe we have bad luck in our dealing of business. And now that we have both agree it's over. You owe it to the community to come out to the meet. Not to see me, we don't have much to joke about. But to see the guys here who have been making friends with you for so long. They want to see you, you want to see them. I really don't care or bother me if you show up. Its all for fun, and you are taking this too seriously. I have made the extra step to invite you to the meet that You organized. So, are you coming?

I agree with an earlier post. IM sucks sometimes. People read things and try to interpret HOW the other person is saying it. I Imagine if this were a phone conversation there would be no problem. When you read something and take offence to it you become angry and then you start to read everything in your angry tone.

I have been a customer of Jeff's for a long time and I am not one of those people with money to throw. I have worked hard to earn the money to put into my car. Jeff has stepped up and helped me each time I come to him.

I think it would be silly for anyone not to come because of this. it is going to be a good time. Hell like I said in an earlier post My car is sitting at D and V and wont be ready and my relationship with those guys are not to good right now. They will be there and I shurely will be there to meet everyone and see some BAD *** Cars - Cars that we all have a passion for.

I hope to see everyone there

Now that Jeff said it, and agreed to put aside all differences. Ricky, you will have no reason not to come.

PS: if you don't come, I will "Z" you down whenever I "Z" you on the road. And this is not a threat

Exclamation Not a good idea

hey guys...sorri to hear about the crap goin on. But can I make a point please? This never should have made it online. If you didn't feel like you should come to the meet, then you should have said that instead of calling out Jeff like that. Now all people do is get defensive. This should have been settled outside of this forum. I just dropped my Z off at evo to get my Vortech supercharger put in and jeff was koo. He even offered lots of advice for later maintenance...**more than wut I expected**..Anyway, hope the issue gets resolved, come to the meet and forget about it huh! Life will go on and no matter wut, evo does do a good job..Plus you gotta understand from a shop point of view. People come in and waste their time all day long...i definately wouldn't wanna be bothered about business related stuff on my day off....and tein does keep people on hold 4EVER! (like everybody)..Keep the business in the shop and be grateful for the help you get outside business hours...

I'm glad ya were able to fix this problem, I never thought something like this would end up in the forum, but it's ok.... I just hope we ALL have a blast and enjoy seeing a whole bunch of nice Zs as well and the rest of the public looking at all of us.

I discovered my350z.com two days after getting my Z, and this thread was the first one I read. I was so excited to find a group of people that love my car as much (if not more) than I do. Ricky, if you don't show up, I can understand, but I was hoping to thank you in person for setting this up. If you don't come then, Thank You.
