Default Just Purchased a 350z! yay~

Hi you all I sold my s2000 not long ago and I just got myself a 350z. it's a Base model with 15000miles on it for $19700. Was this a good deal?
Color is red, I hate red, but it was cheap. so I had no choice haha.
well I have questions.

I found out that the base does not have HID
Viscous limited-slip differential
Traction Control System (TCS)
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) .
can anyone tell me what each of these do? Except HID of course haha.
Well I hope I will see you all soon at some local meets coming up!

thanks
John.

Congratulations, and watch your mouth about redline!

LSD: A differential allows wheels to turn at different rates, like when going around a corner (and all cars have some type of differential), but a Viscous LSD has a liquid in it that gets thick very quickly when heated. Friction generated inside the diff. when one wheel is slipping and the other isn't makes the liquid thicken (think of it as roughly as an anti-lubricant) thus reducing the ability of one axle to turn faster than the other. The net effect is the transfer of power from the slipping to the non-slipping wheel.

TCS: Your new Z is "drive-by-wire". Your gas pedal is not connected physically to the Fuel/Air injection system, it's connected to an electronic control system that interprets pedal movement and then passes those inputs on to the engine. Brakes because they are power assist, can be thought of in similar fashion. Now TCS is a system than can sense variances in wheel speed in comparison to throttle input, vehicle speed, etc., take all these inputs and make a decision about whether the car has lost traction or not. If it decides that traction has been compromised, it can reduce throttle and/or apply brakes to individual or multiple wheels in an attempt to return the car to a traction state.

VDC: Take TCS and add the ability to sense vehicle yaw (which is typically the result of oversteer or understeer), VDC will attempt to recover a car from an "off line" condition (i.e. the car is not pointed in the direction the car is traveling.)

Enjoy that new car!!

This is a great explanation. Thanks Kcobean. I understood more or less the meaning of TCS and VDS but was never able to explain them in the way you just did. I am glad John asked.

thanks for all the comments you all. but here's my question....
was $19700 for a base model that has never been hit, flawless worth it? or did I get ripped off?

thanks
John.

you never said what year it is, but regardless, it's not a bad deal if it's in good shape. Congratulations.
