350Z Vs Bullit Mustang

Now if we say 2.5 car lengths is 15 meters and 3 car lengths is 18meters, then in this example there's a small window of 3 meters for accuracy. ****, I'd couldn't tell you 5 meters, probably closer to 10, yet we've got a win range of 3 meters.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is in the above race it's quite possible the Mustang was closer then 3 'car lengths' or could have been even more behind which a matter of 10 meters is a big difference in gauging the performance of a street race between two cars.

The guy beat the stang, end of story. You'll never know EXACTLY how far back the stang was because it's happend, wasn't measured, and now it's over, done, finito.
Find something constructive to talk about, besides who can accurately judge carlengths....jeez.
i never said the mustang was slow. this was a kill story. that night i won. on a diferent night i could get my *** handed to me by a mustang. either way i was infront enough to sumise from my perspective that we were about 2- 3 car lengths apart.

Do you know if it was stick or auto?, because I lost to my cousin newer rustang GT but his was stick by 1-2 cars length few weeks ago, I know autos are a lot slower so I shouldn't have any problem with autos GTs.

Yea 2 - 3 car sounds about right. I witnessed Sakred drag race yesterday @ LACR and he fished in a 14.3 @ 96 mph. Most modified (stock gear) GT's will come in around high 14's to low 15's at this track. The track is ~ 3000' above sea level located in the desert so it has that "desert" climate
hey whats up Mpowered actually after you guys left i hit a 14.2 at 96.821 mph
not much different but hey it was dropping with every run. i want to run a drag strip where its at or around sea level just to see how much better i would do.

actually from what i hear the correction factor was around .6 to .7 secs. a discussion on this is goin on on the s2k boards aswell. http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea...hreadid=100270 seeing as how there was a zo6 running 13.3 and camero SS LS1 running 14.1 on average. i would think its accurate. regardless of the correction factor i still tell people i ran a 14.2

Correct...
Physical correction for the altitude alone is .4 - .5 tenths. Remember that just factors air density given altitude. That does not factor in anything else such as: Temperature, barometric pressure, humidity and other variables. Remember, Palmdale is in the DESERT. 3000' above sea level in the Desert vs 3000' above sea level in say climate like LA is totally different. A good example of that is why east coast tracks obtain MUCH better times than So Cal tracks. Their tracks are near sea level and the climate is nice and cool. This is why ATCO is considered a "super" track.
Another good example is dynoing your car. Goto Huntington Beach and dyno your car there, vs dynoing your car in LA. You will see a good 10 rwhp difference. Remember, LA is about 650 above sea level, where as Huntington Beach is near sea level. If 10 rwhp is seen at just 650ft above sea level in moist cool climate, imagine what 3000' in dry desert climate will do
Hammad,
That Z06 several weeks ago was running mid to high 13's. He apparently gotten better in his driving and managed a 13.1 @ 106; that translates well into the mid 12's. For the 405hp model, that is very accurate.

I don't like the elevation where I live -- 6000 FT

Actually from what you guys are saying and according to the correction factors from NHRA.
Palmdale and Firebird Raceway here in Idaho are identical.
Correction factors are the same and everything. I'm hoping to run a 14.2 atleast once the track opens up. I ran a 15.0 in my Maxima with just Intake and Y-pipe.
It really sucks when you expect your car to do more yet your still running crappy times. took me awhile to get used to the fact that i'm 2700' above sea level.
