Default A Slick Type R

My buddy and I were driving home in his new 2002 IS 300 ("manual")l from a local hangout when he sees something approaching FAST.

I told him to slow down and see if whatever it was intended to run. We finally get to see the yellow loud as hell beast pull next to us and revving with his high beams on.

I was like "***** it, lets do it, its 4:00AM no pigs around and if u get pulled over I'll help you pay half the ticket cost". It was on

My boy "Boris" dropped to 3rd vrooom we pulled like there was no tomorrow and Bammm the Teg's front bumper was still right there approximately 1/4 behind us.

Shittt. it surprised the hell out of us, and then by the time he shifted to 4th gear the Teg was ahead by 1 1/2 car length and pulling away quick.

We were going at it for the next 2 exits and he got us by at least 2+ car length easy. The Teg was loud as hell the whole time.

My buddy’s car was completely all stock.

The Teg must of had a SC since at high rpm is was loud like a ragging beast is on the loose since the blow of valve was not heard. It was dark and the whole race we managed to be behind so I never saw the intercooler as well.

But my best guess would have to be at least a SC in order to spank/rape Lexus IS 300 like that.....

Also, what I liked about the car is that it had CLASS. Completely stock appearance, even the rims.

A true sleeper.

on the freeway I figured his IS 300 would have somewhat of advantage by being a V6 with the greater amount of torque.

I am sure even if it was a Vtec sound and my buddy redlining each shift at 6400 rpm it would still not be possible to have such a tremendous lead over us

I never heard how the SC sounds on Type R, but the sound was not normal, way tooo loud on high rpm and what’s amazing about it is that it kept pulling on us the whole time.

The IS 300 is a straight-six.

You also have to remember that the Type-R is a lot lighter car.

I really don't know what the other guy had in his car, but I highly doubt it was all NA.
I never expected the R to be so damn fast...

I know that IS 300 1/4 mile = 15.3
What's the Teg R 1/4 = ????

ITRs run 1/4 miles between 15.2 and 14.7 depending on driver, track, and conditions. My 99 Si had no problems with stock IS300s and it only had I/H/E for power mods. Trust me when I say the ITR probably only had an intake & header hence the crazy noise you heard. SCed (Jackson Racing at least) ITRs will sound higher pitched and you'll hear more of the whine (from the SC) then an NA ITR.

type r's r really light and can run mid 14s wid just an intake.
**** i've seen type r's run high 13s wid I/H/E and the rear seats taken out.

A stock IS 300 is no match for a stock ITR. The IS has more hp and torque, but the ITR is much lighter and is really designed to haul ***. The IS is still a luxury sport sedan.

A 4th Gen Prelude is the fastest generation of all.
The 5th generation may have 200hp, but it’s heavier and the SH type is the slowest 5th Gen of them all.

The 93 Vtec tends to be the fastest of the all generations and years. 92-95 Preludes are OBD1 which means the ECU will NOT keep reprogramming itself to stock performance with bolt-ons unlike OBD2.

96-2001 Preludes are all OBD2 which means you have to reset your ECU on weekly bases to get the most out of your bolt-ons.

A well driven stock ITR is a mid 14 second car. 14.4s are possible with good drivers, even lower in extreme cases with ideal weather, etc. A stock ITR would beat the **** out of an IS300 manual or automatic. It makes no difference. Highway race, from a stop, etc.
