Yup, the only performance differences between 1st/2nd gens is they raised the boost from 9 to 12 psi and used a getrag 6-speed instead of getrag 5-speed.

The biggest difference is in the 1/4 mile ET. The 18" chrome rims on most of the 2nd gen. and 3rd gen. VR-4s don't help much either. The first gen. wheels are slightly smaller at 17" and probably slightly lighter without chroming. That's enough to make a little difference, although I'm sure not much. The boost difference equates to ~20 hp at the crank and the 6-speed has a lower ratio, so the 0-60 accel. times are a few tenths better in the newer VR-4s, but the 1/4 mile trap speeds aren't that far off.

Guys dont forget, i remember reading on 3si forums about a modded SL that runs low 13's at 106-108 on NOS and high 13's at 102 N/A or something like that. The guy was using all the bolt ons plus NOS. So anything can be made fast with modded so to the guy who posted this thread, check his car for mods before u bet money. Another advice, dont under estimate people who wants to run for money. They like to act stupid until they get ur money .
