Default Track Z and M3 at 140 MPH

So I'm on my way back to Austin from Dallas, cruising at 80 mph. This M3 comes past me at about 90 mph just south of Temple. I decide to follow hoping to get home quick. I stay back about 5 cars and we are now cruising at 110 mph. That went on for several miles. I got bored staying behind and decided to take the lead. I roll past at 115 uncontested and maintain my speed. I sped up to 120 a few times with the M3 following suit. Finally I decide to put my foot in it. I plant it and take 5th to near redline before shifting to 6th. As I start pulling from 120, the M3 follows. l take it to 140 and maintain. I could tell the Z had more but decided 140 mph was fast enough. The M3 accellerated with me but never gained or tried to pass me. Now, I know what the M3 is capable of and knew he could walk me. Guess he was content to stay behind. I was very impressed with the high speed handling of the Z. It was incredibly stable and felt planted the whole time. Zero lift. I slowed down to 110 and we traded the lead all the way to Pflugerville where we both exited. We waved and went our separate ways. I'm sure he went away with nothing but respect for the Z. I know I sure did.

did you feel the front end getting light at all?

when i got up that fast i could feel the front end lifting a little. was wondering if the diffuser on the track helps out much with that?

Haha, that's cool. I like the mutual respect both owners showed each other. I remember going to Vegas once and 4 other cars and myself never slowed below 110 for about 200 miles. I always seem more comfortable speeding in a pack because you sort of reduce your chances of getting a ticket.

Hey Moroccan_Mole, I remember you saying that in Austin. I felt zero lift. I attribute that to the diffusers since the Track is the only model rated with zero rear lift.

In comparison, my Z28 (fourth gen) never felt as stable or planted as my 350Z at high speed. The Z28 is a capable high speed car but is no comparison to the 350Z in feel and handling.

Ha Ha, Hey Trackbite, glad to hear you made it back okay. The way you were staying on my *** during the Lime Creek drive, I knew you wanted to see what your Z could do. I'm sure the areo kit, and underbody diffusers that's on the Track was helping with the stability. Enjoyed the post.

Damm, were you on I-35? Fastest I got to on there was 125. I've heard stories of cops hidin' at each town on 35.

We were on I-35 between Temple and Georgetown. Just as you enter Georgetown, I-35 goes to four lanes. That's where we hit 140. It was late on a Sunday night. I didn't see any cops after passing Waco.

I wouldn't try too many times to go over the limit in Williamson county... The bears in this county do not believe in reciprocity and take no prisoners. Heard they ticket fellow officers passing / enroute on I 35.

Lucky the bear was sleeping or watching the race!

decided to let mine run this weekend as well. i have a stock ethusiast w/ no mods whatsovever. hit 145 on the outer beltline around raleigh, nc. the z was still pulling and i had to back off due to traffic in front of me. also, my girlfriend was in the car with me at the time, adding just a little extra weight (i'll get in trouble for that comment). the car handled it great. 140 felt just like 80. i am more impressed with this car each time i drive it.

A stock suspended Z28 will float a little at speed. My Z28 feels pretty scary at 155
