Z vs. 1993 SL500 convertible V12?
I can't find any performance stats on this car on the net. I know that the v12 has close to 400 horses though. Anyone have experience or knowledge of performance for this car?
Friend of mine just picked it up w/ 60K on the clock...wanna know if I have a chance.

According to MSN Autos:
A '93 SL500 is a 315 HP V8. It has 347 ft-lbs of torque. It weighs 4165 lbs.
A '93 SL600 is a 389 HP V12. It has 420 ft-lbs of torque. It weighs 4455 lbs.
So if he only has the SL500 it might be a good race. If he as the SL600 it might be another story. Both are heavy cars though.

The SL500 should be able to run high 14's in the 1/4, the SL600 will run high 13's. You should be able to beat either from a stop if yours is a manual and you're a good driver but both will beat you in a highway roll.
My dad has a '98 SL600 and it's very quick for such a heavy car. At freeway speeds it's a monster. Also remember it's an auto (just mash and go) so driver error isnt a factor.

The 03' SL500 is 5.0 litter v8 and has 302 hp @ 5600rpm, 339 lb
-ft @ 2700rpm, it does 0-60mph in 6.1 and does the 0-1/4 mile in
14.5 according to sports & gt cars mag.
I dont believe they have an 03' SL600 v12 in production. I know at one time they took orders for a SL700 v14 and I'm sure that was a bad *** car too drive!

Hmm...
Well, it is the SL500 w/ V12.
The driver is a "she"...I'm guessing in a race, she might mash the pedal and sit there for a while- if from a stop.
Freeway might be a different story.

The SL500 is a V8. It has never had a V12. The V12 version is the SL600. Unless it had an engine swap, your friend's SL500 is a V8.
350zZz: There actually is a new version of the SL600 coming out. Believe it or not, it's a twin-turbocharged V12 with 500 hp. They will be selling it along with their SL55 which has a supercharged V8, also just under 500 hp.

It's the 600. I'm still gonna play with her, if she'll let me...just to see how things compare.
