Well... i was leaving a party with my friend this friday and going to PCH ( a street that goes by the beach here in cali) and i see this around 96 civic hatchback racing an old porshce( around '72) so i catch up to it.. the guy looks all crazy and he says to be "u want some too?!" so we laucn and we are about dead even we do this a few times then we go again from about 10mph roll and he beats me by atleast a car we got up to about 90 i dont know what this guys could be runnin..on a diffrent note i also raced a mustang GT on the freeway and he took me everytime must be modded because i beat my friends GT all day and he has intake/exhaust/cams.. anyway i guess some hondas out there are pretty fast with they fix up the motor and dont waste any money on the exterior this car looked completely stock from the outside

 

Don't feel bad it's still a POS civic. You can also beat a Z with a Geo if you spend enough money on it. Doesn't mean anything.

Yeah, you can make anything run fast...but it was a street race...run whatcha brung.

 

i wouldn't put him down. my crx which is my beater would smoke your cobra. how do i know it would? last time i was at the track it was a high 11 on street tires. i embarassed a buddy of mine who i work with who happens to also own an 03 cobra.

"NissaNZ" made it sound like just cause it was a Civic...the fact that he got beat didn't matter, when in fact, it does.
I would have said the same thing if he would have gotten walked on by a Yugo with a 454, or a or a blown Gremlin and someone said "it's still a POS (insert car name here)....he was still walked on.

I am well aware that their are a few fast Hondas out there. Matter of fact I was with a buddy of mine in his LS1 Formula when he got his butt absolutly handed to him by a Civic, that other then the exhaust pipe, looked stock.

So, please don't take what I said as if I believe I am the fastest thing on the street...cause I know I'm not. I'm just fast enough get in to trouble

I have put up with so many idiots who drive Cobras and Vetts when I was growing up driving the Mustangs that were not the "top of the line"... I don't let myself get all high and mighty...

And I have never gotten completely out of reality, even on the Mustang boards I check out all the time.

yea it was pretty embarrasing because all my friends were behind me and they still wont let it go "your z got beat by a hatchback!" all day long by now the whole city knows it

Dude if your beater ran high 11s then what did your weekend car run??? Also if your beater ran high 11s then why was is your beater? I bet that beater had worse gas mileage then my V8 and dont try to tell me it had great gas mileage. I know a whole bunch of Honda guys and their gas mileage goes to sh*t getting their car to run those kinda times.

 

A honda can be pretty fast if modded the right way. Got my a$$ taken to school once by a Civic too, and I thought was gonna burn him(I drive a GS-T now). No biggy. I'm pretty sure a modded Z can out run a modded Civic with no problem. and XBS, who cares what your friends said, cuz like you said, they were "behind" you right?

 

Funny you should mention this, over at Roadfly.org some guy in BMW 330 got beat by an Infiniti G35 and someone said,"so what, he still has a nissan and wishes he was driving a BMW" whatever... I love excuses.

If you think that sux how about the video clip that was floating around here a while back of the civic that blew away that Dodge Viper, I cant imagine that guy had a leg to stand on trying to use the same excuse

my weekend car is my 350 jackass. the one that's my avatar. the crx is my beater because it's a beater. that's it's nickname. my roomate also drives a civic SI but has a 90 integra GS as his beater (the one that can be seen in my avatar).

what does gas mileage have to do with anything? did we talk about that once? no we sure didn't.

here's some pics for the haters that dont believe me of my new turbo that is being installed this week. i needed more boost so a new kit was ordered and being installed now.

This is really not that hard to belive. There was a CRX here at Sears Point that would run high 12s on a stock Si engine that just had a greddy turbo kit on it. All he had was a muffler shop 2.5" catback and Starion intercooler and 16psi boost. BTW, just like any other car, turbos are only as fuel eficient as how you drive them, if it makes more power than it burns more fuel, but when not on the boost they actually use the same amount of gas as an NA, then again, if mileage was our biggest concern we would all be driving a toyota Prius

 

exactly, with the way i drive my Z i get about 20mpg. i drive a sports car the way it's suppose to be driven. hard and fast all the time. once the engine is warmed up it's going to see redline as much as it possibly can. if you are worried about gas mileage then either you don't make enough money or you are driving the wrong car.
