Default Beat an S2000!

Me and several friends were heading to ATL to get dynoed on Friday. I was in my 350Z and pulled up beside my friends 2000 S2000. We were going about 80 and we hit it. I started pulling right away and when I hit the brakes at 130 he was a 2-3 car lengths behind. We got to the next light and he just gave me a thumbs up and said DAMN. On the way back we raced from the light and I stomped him, but in his defense he had a horrible launch.

Sorry! I forgot the best part. The first run was 235hp and 233tq, the second was right after the first and it was 236.6hp and 234tq, he let the car sit for about 4- minutes and then ran it again. That time it was 243hp and 238tq. I was very happy with my numbers. It was at Balanced Performance in Atlanta and I think it was a dynojet. Temp was 63 degrees. There was another 350Z from Tennessee there with custom headers. He didnt seem to want to talk much. He said he did 243 stock and while they tried to dyno him he had CEL come on. I think it was running rich. They finally got it and he did 243. I left after the first run. JP00SS on this board has a 2000 Camaro SS and he dynoed at 323hp and 330tq?(I think). The S2000 did 203hp and 137tq, an Integra Type R with I/H/E was 164hp and 120tq. Like I said I was very happy with my numbers. Hopefully the will get better with more miles. I have about 3700 miles now.

Yeah, JP00SS beat me, but we both smoked a Camaro SS with a 150 shot of nitrous. Or at least that is what he said he had. I figured he would have done better.

U got it wrong, it was NAWWWWSSSSSS! That dude was full of it. If he had a 150 shot he would have killed both of us.

come on JP00SS fill us in.

Oh and if anyone here thinks they can beat a properly driven 98 + SS in a straight line with a stock 350Z is ummmm smoking some wackey stuff Not that the 350Z is slow it is just that the SS is very fast off the show room floor.

oh i dont know the SS is fast very fast....but i think we've seen a Z trap 103 mph....what does a bone stock SS trap? 105-6 ? on the street thats not enough to get back a hole shot to 80 mph...

In good conditions they can trap anywhere from 105-107mph....but most of the time I see them trapping 104-105....you have a very good point TypeR...it's really hard to make up a hole shot defecit with a slightly quicker car.

Nice Kill and nice duno pulls!!!

but just so ya know,..the 2000 S2000 is the slowest one made--all the other years are faster by like 2-3 10's(weird,.but true)--alot of S2k guys will tell you this!

I have 2 friends w/ S2000's( both are 2002's) that I will probably race when I go back to my hometown in a few weeks--I'll have my 19's on it too so I might get beat?but ya never know!

you're kidding right????? They all seem to dyno about the same...I don't see how one year would be any slower when the cars are essentially identical.

EDIT: And now that I look at it....the 204rwhp dyno from that 2000 S2k is REALLY good for a stocker...a lot of guys get high 190s...

well,..from what i know and heard--have 3 friends w/ S2000's (one has 2000 & 2 have 2002's)and they and everyone else on even S2Ki know that the 2000 yr was slower--trust me,..ask any S2K owner.
Look @ the INtegra Type-R---> 97's slowest-98 a little faster-2000 & 2001-the fastest--Pheonix yellows are quoted as the fastest between NBP 7 PY--all being hand made.
PY Ownz,. for you ITR guys!hahahah

I don't know why,..but its not just that car--alot of cars are liek that from year to year they do change,..most stay the same,..but most are differnet--Like MR2 91's we're the fastest--MKIV Supra--93 I believe is the fastest---those are all toyota's but if you look here
http://www.car-stats.com

You'll see

Come on though..we all joke around. Over on the Yamaha R6 board we also joke about how the blue is faster than the red...and blah blah blah...but it's all just BS. 2000 S2ks put down the same hp, weigh the same and ARE THE SAME as 99s, 2001s, 2002s...it's the same friggen car. Now some cars over their model life span change slightly from year to year...sometimes making some faster than others. For example my old car...the 97 maxima or 4th generation. 95-96 were the same and 97-99 were the same. The 97-99s had better crash protection and weighed a little bit more than the 95-96s..but in the real world, it was all up to the driver in a run between them. It's the same with S2000s and ITRs...if they are the same car, dyno the same, and weigh the same...they will accelerate the same...end of story.

Mr Fairlady, has a point.

Start with and stay with one dyno on this discussion as dyno numbers varies form dyno to dyno and condition to condition.

One respected tuner and owner an S2000 has dyno'd (dyno pac) 20 plus models from 2000-2002. 2000-2001 models appear to run 5 hp less than 2002. (this is not enough to change a 350Z - S2000 race result) The reason behind this hp increase appears to be (in theory) a factory reprogrammed ECU, which advances timing in 2002 models. This also appears to produce more (little amount) usable low-end torque. Even with cars that have more than 10,000 miles on them the increases seem to be the same. I have heard nothing about 2003 models vs. 2000-2002.

This is a well-argued and documented theory on S2Ki.com. As an owner of 2002 and driver of 2000 and 2001 models, I do not notice the difference with the butt dyno.

I didn't see where is was stated that they raced to 80mph. Nor did I see that they ran from a stop.

im not speaking only to this race...your statement was open ended if any one thinks theyre gonna beat an SS from a standing start they're smoking... i was saying on the street if the Z does indeed trap 103 and the SS 105 then it sure can be done and i was also giving a speed example that is more typical of street racing 80MPH
