Start with and stay with one dyno on this discussion as dyno numbers varies form dyno to dyno and condition to condition.

One respected tuner and owner an S2000 has dyno'd (dyno pac) 20 plus models from 2000-2002. 2000-2001 models appear to run 5 hp less than 2002. (this is not enough to change a 350Z - S2000 race result) The reason behind this hp increase appears to be (in theory) a factory reprogrammed ECU, which advances timing in 2002 models. This also appears to produce more (little amount) usable low-end torque. Even with cars that have more than 10,000 miles on them the increases seem to be the same. I have heard nothing about 2003 models vs. 2000-2002.

This is a well-argued and documented theory on S2Ki.com. As an owner of 2002 and driver of 2000 and 2001 models, I do not notice the difference with the butt dyno.

JM2C

That makes sense, but Mr. Fairlady said that only the 2000 model was slower

Come on...5hp and a tiny bit of torque isn't going to do much of anything. Especially change the outcome of a race.

Oh and if anyone here thinks they can beat a properly driven 98 + SS in a straight line with a stock 350Z is ummmm smoking some wackey stuff Not that the 350Z is slow it is just that the SS is very fast off the show room floor.
We both did beat this guy. The guy had a Camaro with SS badges, a SS hood, SS spoiler and some kind of body kit. He had some ugly *** chrome rims (the kind u put on a SUV) so thats what got me thinking he was a poser(most LS1's don't put big *** ugly rims). He said he had flowmasters and a 150 Shot. So CLS raced him and beat him ( I was in front so I couldn't really tell by how much, and then I raced him from a dig and put about 2-3 cars on him. To have flows, his car was pretty quite, but then again you can't hear much over mine . I am thinking if he had a 150 shot (which I am pretty sure he didn't he was a V6 Camaro) because even if he was a LS1 he should have beat CLS or hung with me better unless he can't drive, but then again, anything can happen on the streets.

Sorry guys, I have been away. JP00SS is right. The guy said he had a 150 shot and he had everything to make it look like a real SS. Maybe it was a stock AUTO SS with heavy *** chrome wheels. Whatever it was he got his *** handed to him twice. Here is my dyno: Why is it so spikey up top?

Well,.the whole S2000 thing--ya know,..I undestand about the hp not being much to have made him lost--I'm glad you won---thats cool,.thats just what I heard--so thought it was more then 5hp?

But the INTEGRA TYPE-R thing!! That is 100% true!!!

the 97s we're the slowest-98's we;re a little faster(pretty much the same--but in 2000-2001 there are different cam's in it(differnet cam profile)More aggresive!! No ****!!
they are all diffrent---> the ITR's are all hand made--now your maxima is not along w/ the otehr Maxima's in the world,..so thats why that dosen't apply==but INtegras you could truley get a Friday car or a Monday car--but the 2000 & 01's are the fastest!!! ASK Anyone!(PYellow's are said to be the fastest--but not for sure)--go to H-T and post that up and see what they say!hahaha

I'm a Honda-techer and Lots of friends own them(ITR's)
I was very close to being a 98 CW owner & 2000 PY ITR #510 owner

but eitehr way
NICE KILL!

...as Mr. Fairlady stated the 2002s are the fastest s2000 and the 2000s are the slowest. This is a fact (go over to s2ki.com, it's been proven with dynos). For those who say that it's not that much of a difference, a 2000 s2k with exhaust and intake will generally dyno around the same as a bone stock 2002 ... so it is a big difference. This is also the case between 2000+ Type R's vs previous year Type R's. These are FACTS.

Thank you BLACKS--I knew I wasn't that F*cked up!
but either way,..not saying that if it was a 2002 you would have lost--just peice of mind!!

I remember my Friend Joey B. sayin that his was slower then the others...but I'll be racing 2 2002'2 in the next few weeks!!
both guys driving only weigh about damn 110lbs wet!hahahah
one is 17 other is 20
so we'll see how it goes w/ the "Almost Dubs" on too!

uh oh.....I better be scared of 2001-2002 S2ks then....they put up a whopping 2 more whp than a 2000 (that's what most guys get from intake and cat-back).....WOW...

FACTS....right dude..that's why the 2000 model year S2K in this thread dynoed at 204whp...and that's one of the highest stock S2k dynos that I've seen.

take a look at this link to a dyno day where 8 S2000s dynoed....and the modded ones typically dynoed LESS than the stock ones. Plus I believe the highest stock S2000 was a 2000 model year.

http://www.elistan.com/2003-02-01_dyno_day

Nice FACTS buddy

exactly...which is why I don't think we can attribute the differences to model year alone...every car will dyno different...it's a fact of life.

As for people that sit there and look at dynos all day to see what model year averages higher by a couple horses....they need to get a friggen life...
