Cool Went to Track today

Well guy and gal i went to the track today to see how my baby would do with 55 shot. My best time was 9.64 second on a 1/8 of a mile. I had so much wheel spin from first and second, couldn't seem to catch traction at all! I spray on first on the first run 9.86 second then on the second run i spray at third 9.64. I think i need to practice on my launch. I launch at idle on the first run! and on the second a 2g. What should i launch at? But all in all i had fun! That's all that count. Oh yeah i had my girl with me in the car to and everything else too!

so long as you had fun, but with 55extra hp, it would seem it was more power than the tires could handle, cause I edged that out, in stock form...

in the future, dont race with your girl IN the car.

try launching at 2-3000RPMs, and let the clutch out as fast as you can without spinning. for shifts dont do so much of a powershift so you dont lose traction, or atleast let the clutch out little slower and more gently.

I have never seen a drag strip that let's you race with a passenger. and why 1/8th mile and not 1/4? I mean, the Z is not really meant to be a 1/4 mile car either but 1/8th mile you are not letting the car get to it peak performance areas.

1/8 miles times mean nothing to me.. I speak in 1/4 miles terms.. Any estimation what the 1/4 would be?

Wow, what was your 60 ft? Probably around 2.6? Typically, you can take a 1/8 mile time and multiply it by 1.6 to get the 1/4 mile time. This of course is not precise, but in my experience it is usually very close. The 1/8 mile times are all about traction, and I'm sure you had very little. I'm heading to the 1/8 mile track tomorrow, and I'm hoping to get under 9 seconds. I think you should easily run mid 8's once you learn how to launch with all that power.

Did you try to launch without the juice on? Get a good launch, hook up well and then turn on the NOS? That might give you better results. YOu are loading up the tires and they are losing traction. THen with the 50 shot, you are just keeping them spinning which is a big no no!!!

My best time last weekend was 9.17 with a 2.3 60 ft. I just couldn't get the car to hookup like I wanted it to. This car should definitely be in the 8's with a good 60 ft. time.

ye you guy have a high 8 1/8th mile car if you can launch....IM STILL WAITING FOR SOME DRIVER TO STEP UP....i know some bodys got 2.0** 60' in them....to me the 1/8th is just as good to race once you have a strong repeatable 1/4 established....you can always compare those numbers to see ...let's face it the hard part is done in the first half of the track...it's all about the 60' really....

I know the older, 90's Z's were known for havin Real bad traction uses @ the drag strip..Not to say it soundin bad but...i don't know that the new Z car can hook a 2.0 60ft on stock tires, maybe slicks...

It is definitely possible, but will take some practice. This was my first time launching a RWD car at the track, so I still need alot of practice.

Don't be so sure....the main point i was driving home is STOCK tires..Was ur run made on stock tires type R?
If u put slicks on it, it will turn good 60 fts..But runnin on OE tires, thats another story.
