Default Ok help...got the kills BUT ... am I a noob?

Okay....prelude pulls up...I rarely drive the Z but I just hit 2k miles so I'm willing to push it now ;-)

So the story....prelude pulls up...revs, bunch of guys...I figure I'll drop it to show them the Z move!!...I drop it...in first just about to hit second and the car cuts OUT!!! I think I was almost redline but I was like WTF!!! I still chirped second and it slugged then BAM takes off.....

What happened?? It happened AGAIN about 20 minutes later when a modded accord jumped the line on me. I ate both, but I did NOT appreciate the cut and slug at all...

Any ideas??? Can I not take it to 7rpms in 1st??? wth

*grins* I hope this isn't something stupid on my part :-)!

Thanks all

In my experience, the computer controlled tachs in most late model cars can't keep up with the acceleration in first gear. This may be what you ran into - the engine was at redline but the tach was still trying to catch up.

Well redline is 6600... and no you can't take it to 7000, fuel cut is ~6600 also.

Again...I'm not sure what RPM's I was at...my best guess was NEAR or AT redline...

Just talked to my neighbor..he's some big head in VW and brings the TT's (VW has alot to do with Audi apparently) home all the time.... he thinks there is a limiter on redlines and that probably was it. Advises I find the 'sweet' spot to shift in..

I feel better now...was worried it was the Z

it's called traction control. happens to me also if i forget to take it off when accelerating hard. turn it off and it won't happen again but be carefull applying throttle in the corners.

No, it's not traction control most likely, from how he described it. It's the rev limiter, it kicks in PROMPTLY at 6600 rpm. We were just talking about it in another thread. The engine will cut out as soon as you hit 6600, maybe even a tad before it. Just don't shift so late, pay attention to your tachometer.
