Default 1200 Miles..... Gunned The Z

yup----- so i opened her up last night -- and heres what i found out-----she has amazing midrange, but seems to be lacking in high end power

its weird--- people say that this car is runnin 14.0-14.2 bone stock--- i just had my honda stolen and it ran a 14.4----------the z doesnt even seem as fast as my honda was------but i think this is because of the extreme comfort that the car offers-- not as loud, and common-- those leather seats are just pimp

so now i cant wait to get to the track and see my numbers

as for launch-- sweet spot seemed to be around 3000 for me-- slight chirp and no bog

anyone here have any good ideas of how to make a little more top end power!!!!!!

1. The Z is faster than she feels

2. Don't worry she only gets stronger from here. Wait till you have about 6000 on the odo

b16a --- its the engine found in the 99-00 si-- dohc vtec---- but mines the j-spec version

id love to put i/h/e on the z-- well i will do an intake verysoon----- but i always like to use very high quality parts on my vehicles, and high quality headers and exaust for the z are very expensive

i asume she is fater than she feels--- it just fools ya

whats up with this 6-7000 mile thing--- what goes on when ya hit that mark????

Can't tell ya for sure (rumor is the ECU is fully unlocked), but it just feels signicantly faster. I punch the gas now and the back squats and she takes off hard. You can feel the difference from where you are now.

I know what you're feeling. I had a 00 Si and it felt faster then ti really was. With the Vtec scream it makes you believe that you're going faster. The Z will sneek up on you until you look at your speedo.

If you really want to feel the difference take off like at about 2500 rpm and let em rip. In second you'll be going sideways. This is something you don't feel in Honda's. It's called torque.

the engine gets more 'comfortable' a it gets used more. Just like a bike or any other mechanically moved item. Used it for a while and you'll find it works smoother than when you first used it. It's hard to explain, but a complete engine 'break-in' takes 5,000 miles. The recommended break-in is so yer not beating on a brand new machine. It goes for all cars, use them for 5K miles and then compare starting to finish performance and there is a slight difference.
