Man, I just got the motor broken in, and not a moment too soon. I was out today in NJ and this chick pulls up next to me in the right lane in a Honda Odyssey. We could both see the "right lane ends" sign up ahead. I don't know what she was thinking, but damn if she's gonna get in front of me.

So the cross traffic starts to roll to a stop and I eased it into gear. I wasn't sure how this was gonna go down, but soon enough it would all be clear. The light goes green and we both launch. But she beats me out of the hole cause I'm trying not to hop the tiress. Then, once I got the clutch out, it was pretty even, so I grab second, dumped the clutch and tagged it. She was done!!

Then I saw a cop car parked on the side of the road up ahead, so I backed out of it, and got on the breaks to slow it back to something near the 25 MPH limit. When I looked in the mirror, she was about a hundred yards back.

So don't let anyone with an Odyssey start any sh#t, or start trash talkin. I'm telling you flat out, the Z will beat that Honda every time!!

btw, I did see an article on all the 60s "muscle cars" that the Odyssey would beat in a 1/4 mile, you'd be suprised what cars were on that list.

 

Not really. Truth be known.. Technology has by far overshadowed the big blocks of the 60's..its the nostalgia that keeps those myths alive.

The Odyssey is that new big box looking van looking thing Honda makes.. But don't let the looks fool you, it's at least a 17 second vehicle (maybe 16's if you take the back seats out.).

When I first bought my Z28 I was next to a Chrysler town and country.. double lane highway..speed limit 55mph my T-Tops off. Well the women driving starts to speed up and slow down a bit..and I look over.. her husband and her (Maybe 30ish?) and their kids are looking over..and the husband is giving me a thumbs up and smiling. So I did what they wanted. Shut down after breifly hitting 110mph..and slowed up. They were both grinning ear to ear.. got thumbs up from both of them and the little boy in the back was just staring in awe. Made my day.

 

Yea, the car definitely gets some looks, so I know what you mean. I got a thumbs up from some young grommets playing hoops in their driveway the other day. Made me feel good!

I'm one of the guys that actually broke in the motor. And the whole time, I was really sad because it felt like it had NO power. And I was reading all the posts of people saying how much torque it had and how much they liked to drive it. And I couldn't figure out why. Sure it handled well, and it is a nice cockpit to sit in, but was I the only one that thought it had no power?

Turns out, that the motor is like Dr. Jekly and Mr. Hyde. When you roll the power on to 4000 rpm's, the motor is pretty lazy. But if you stomp it and let it rev, something happens. It's like a switch is thrown, and a second engine starts to work. It reminds me of the first time I rode a dirt bike when I was younger, and the bike came on the pipe. It just launched forward. This car feels like that to me.

You can tell when the car does it, because the sound goes from the back of the car to the front. I guess you hear the exhuast until the engine comes to life, and then you hear the engine!???

I'm not sure if anyone else feels like this, but I am definitely happy it had some motor hidden under the hood.

I want to go back out now and drive it some more but I'm beat. Been out since this morning. But I will sleep pretty good!!
