Also, my friend has a 2003 Max SE and he says that he will beat me. It is stick and has all the options. Anyone race a max? I told him when I get my car and break it in its on...

I got the enthusiast but it is on order...Silverstone!!! Can not wait to get it.
It may do you some good to find a Max Msgboard..if they exist. That way you can get a good idea what those guys are actually running...Magazine times can be so far off its not funny. When your tryin to stake your reputation on it..or just having fun, either way. It never hurts to read up on the other car. Why do you think Im over here? hehe..

If you knew the person and story behind the G35, you wouldn't say much. I sure as hell woudln't turn down a car from my parents.

There's at least two 18-20 year olds with M3s at my school. A grey six speed and a silver SMG. There's at least two teenager-operated Porsche Boxster Ss and one C32 AMG. I don't complain about it because I know their parents bought the cars for them, and my parents admitted they'd do the same if they could afford it.
Nobody in the right mind turns down an offer from their parents for a $60,000 car and insurance paid. I doubt you'd turn down a $40,000 car, much less a $30,000 car. My dad's car is a dilpatitated Lexus LS400 with dead AC, dead shocks, missing headrests, chafed alternator wire and a non-OEM steering rack. I drive it around a lot. I'd take it to prom. Anything wrong with that?

I could say your Porsche is rented from a team. It could be your friend's Porsche. But you know what? I don't know you or under what circumstances you own the car or whatever. You should extend the same courtesy to other board members.

Please... this guy is so obnoxious, it's not even funny. His right to freedom of speech should only extend so far and now he's personally attacking people. I think he's been warned enough times and he should have a temporary ban at least. I feel even more stupid just reading his posts. He's just a hater.

Ask yourself your own questions. No one ever asked you what your opinions were on anything yet you opened your mouth and decided to let us all feel stupid just cuz we have to keep reading your dumb *** posts over and over to get to the real replies. All you're doing is wasting the bandwidth on this server so why don't you just stop cuz I'm very certain no one cares what you say.

I don't even have a CAR. That's because I decided to follow your lead and buy my own car instead of accecpting a new car from my parents. Of course I don't have a Z.

Anyway, back on topic, it's kinda scary to think a $20,000 neon of all things, with a proven engine and drivetrain can trump Zs and Gs in the 1/4mile. They're currently the unbeatable value for a new car that goes fast.

Ares, you are friggin awesome. I almost died laughing when I read The Owner's last two "edited" posts.

But back to the Neon. Yes, it is fast, but I just went to test drive it the other day with my cousin and it's just... cheap. If you don't care about the way the interior looks, get the SRT-4. If you don't care that there are no mufflers on the car and that cruising at 75mph will drive you insane, get the SRT-4. If you don't care people are going to look at you and say "Omg, why'd you get a Neon? So what if it's fast?", get the SRT-4. My cousin couldn't get past any of those so he took home a 04 WRX wagon and that thing is so much better for only 4 grand more. Another thing about the SRT-4 is the shifter sucks big ***** and it actually feels like you're stirring a pot of oatmeal cuz it's so numb and rubbery. The steering is pretty light and a little wandering. Oh, did I mention it has wheel hop when you try to launch hard? Probably not good for the engine mounts and struts. Anyway, yeah... it's a fast Neon, but I'd still go with a SVT Focus for the price.

Let them have their dreams and enjoy their cars it's all good.

But to just flatly say the Max is faster than the Z is uneducated and biased IMHO.

If I was on another board (non Z) I would be doing the same thing

IMHO, the SRT4 isn't going to be underdoggish at the turn of the year when every kid and their mom wants one because they're high performance. I wouldn't mind owning one myself, judging by the numbers and reviews, but I'd have to test drive it first. I drive my friend's WRX regularly so I can compare the feel of the cars. Wow...the dark side is so tempting...
There's WRXs selling around here for $2500 below MSRP at 0% APR. If you want a good deal on one, find a dealer who wants to get rid of their bug-eyes.

My twenty-thousand goes to...the Mazderspeed Protoge!

Also, the shifter in the Neon is not as bad as you say it is. The Z is not that much better either. Wheel hop? Name one powerful front driver that doesn't have it? My fully race preped track ***** 1992 Sentra SE-R has wheel hop too. I don't think there is a problem with the suspension in it.
Please give me the name and location of the WRX dealer that gave him the car for $23K. Better yet, post the final "write up" sheet from the dealer This way I can use it for negotiations when I get me new second car so i don't use my Z as a daily driver. I'm thinking seriously thinking about getting a SRT-4. The car was a blast to drive because it's so raw. (my commute is only 20 min.) But if I can get a WRX for $23K I want it.
I'm sorry to say but your post sounds a lot like a bunch of Car mag reviews from the past few months tied together. Don't be a mag racer
I just might buy the SRT4 because of the underdog status it would get me and have two cars of equal speed!!
Doing drugs, eh? j/k... just reading what it says under your name.
Anyway, if you do some research, you'll find that subby dealers are offering 3k off msrp for 03 model sedans and 2k off 03 model wagons. That being said, a base WRX wagon or sedan should be around the 21.5k mark (wagons are a grand cheaper already) so go buy your WRX now before the 03's are gone. Basically, my cousin went in looking at the 03 but he wanted the 04 after a little talking. The seats are improved and look nicer, while the whole car looks less toyish to me. It's got a bigger scoop, but I like how it looks. We went to Sierra Subaru and ask for Goggy (sounds like Yogi but start with a G). He was very very nice and knocked off 1200 on the new 04 for us. I don't have the print out of the contract or anything cuz I wasn't the one who bought it.
Now on with the Neon. Yes, lots of front wheel drive cars have wheel hop, but I didn't find much in my brother's Matrix (yes, less power, but 180 still isn't bad) and my friend's supercharged Prelude just spins its tires (yes it's modded). Also, I didn't find much wheel hop in a stock SVT Focus either. Rare occasions, but it's my preference and the Neon had a lot of hop which I didn't like. I still stand by what I say about the shifter cuz that's how I felt and my stock Solara 5 speed didn't even feel as bad as that. The only thing I can compare that feel to is the last generation A4 shifters. And are you serious about the Z's shifter feeling lost like the Neon's? The shifter also sticks outta the floor like a sore thumb too. I can also say that for 16 grand, the interior of a Corolla are leaps and bounds better than that SRT's. So is a KIA'S!! The Neon's plastic is hard and durable, but it looks super cheap. Oh, did you know that the front doors have power windows and the rear are still manual? Anyway, I still wouldn't pay 20 grand for it (if dealers sell it at that price) anyway. Sure it's fast, but for a daily commuter, I'd take the SVT Focus or a Civic Si just because of the fact that the interiors are way nicer and it could stick to ground better or just as good. But I do like the way the SRT looks. It's mean.

I personally feel the Maxima is to fast, or the Z is to slow. I had a 3.5 SE 6 speed Maxima for about a week while they were hunting down my 350z. It is way to close in performance to the Z, and you can get a 3.5 liter Maxima for less than the base Z I think. The car I had was a LOADED 3.5 SE 6 speed and it was like 29, almost 30k. My Z was 37,251 and barely faster. Wish the Z was more in the 300-350hp range to differentiate itself. I have raced the same guy here in Austin twice, when he was going to work, and I was leaving work, in the morning. He has a car exactly like the one I had for a week, and he can drive well like myself. Everytime we have raced it has been like clockwork. I just barely pull on him, but I pull everytime, but it's a tiny tiny pull, and I hardly put any distance on him up to 100. If he is representing 14.3 roughly, here's hoping I do hit the 13s like I know I should be able to for my first trip to the strip with my Z tonight.

Thumbs up

Good luck Rob!

Come back and post a 13.99 for us!

May the Hook be with you! Take out your spare and jack and anything else you can think of, every little bit helps.

The M6 Z's here are running 14.1 and 14.3 with Injen Intakes but it seems our track runs slower than others. Track Prep and the Hook is 75%.

Fly straight!

Good luck Rob! I agree with most of the thoguhts expressed. I would fell a hell of a lot better if the Z had a little more hp The Z traditionally has OWN3D the max and the Z should always own a max. Why would nissan max the cars that close in speed? I did not know the max was a sports car!

Crack Smoka (care to share with the rest of us ) I agree with you too. I had a SER and it did have some wheel hop just like any other front wheel drive car. Let me ask this question to the masses: What the hell did Nissan do to its Sentra model? It is getting killed by these other cars. The new SER is WEAK in comparrision. I feel like Nissan is half arseing some of its cars? Does anyone else feel this way? Don't get me wrong I LOVE the Z, but it seems as if they could have done better the little things better. INHO
