I think all dealers have their low end cars and thier "flagships."
I would own a low end Nissan before I owned a low end Dodge just for the sake of longevity and repair expenses down the road.
This is the first year for the Z, expect this flagship car to make more HP in the next year or two as do all new sports cars.
When you compare the bang for buck with the Z flagship compared to other flagships I think Nissan did pretty good.
The Corvette is way over priced and puts down just slightly more than the 20k cheaper Camaro SS (like 15 HP) not talking about the Z06 which is 7-k+ Chevy made a HUGE mistake by dropping the Camaro and not announcing a replacement (like Pontiac is replacing the Trans Am with the GTO.) And BMW? Fughetaboutit!
Looks aside,
If the same driver drove the Z at the track and Auto X the Z would win EVERY time (stock Vs. stock) but LOOKS are a major issue aren't they?

I also feel Nissan is coming out with **** for cars. The new SER is a pimple on Nissans performance's a$$. The car needs ***** like the SRT4. What were they thinking with that 2.5!!

BZZZZZZZZT. WRONG.
All of the SRT4's around here are sold out and they are taking orders for when the new ones come in. Hey I'm almost 30 and looking to buy one because it's fast, crude, rude and a blast to drive. I can tell your a bit soft and might find the car harsh, so it's not for you.
Also, a car like that in Nissans line up would only push them to come out with an even faster Z. Could that be so bad. I know I'll trade mine in for it.
Hey I know the SRT4 is a nitch market car, but so was the 91-94 SE-R and now it has a cult like following!

As far as pushing to make the Z faster, it will come at a cost, and then the Z will be more expensive than Nissan wants. You think they can just hit the performance button on the production line, but it comes at a cost. You don't understand basic car lineup strategy. If you make the Nissan Sentra to powerful you confuse your buyers with a lineup that doesn't make sense. Nissan's lineup is pretty consistent and properly balanced I feel, and this is why Nissan is doing well. My only thing is I do agree the Z should have about 25-50 more HP, but a factory turbo or supercharger is just going to drive that price up.
What is this cult following for 91-94 Sentras? Aren't those total econobox looking cars with small 4 cylinders? I am being serious, I have never heard of any potential for these cars, nor have I ever seen a fast one.

I think the crack smoka (PS I still want some!) is stating that if the altima and max can get dramatic upgrades in performance over the last couple of years, why does it seem like they sort of half arsed it with the Sentra SER's and Z? Don't get me wrong I love the Z! I just want a little more performance, hp, that will seperate the max and altima with the Z. PS the SER's have a lot of followers and I have seen turbo SER's 91-93 pushing low 13's and high 12's!!!!
Crack Smoker don't start dissing my Touring Model or you will wish you were on crack for real when I hit you with my replies.
And that's real talk. I was going along till you involved my Model *I* chose so now what?
Get your Neon or Sentra and line up with me bud.
True....
Sentra is known as an economy commuter car in my town. I have NEVER had one fly by me yet LOL.
The Z is the shizzle my wizzle.
What part of that can't you grasp?
Do a side by side pic of the Sentra the Max and the Z and then that should speak for itself.
I will still line up with Maxima's or Sentra's and Neon's (puke engines IMHO) so take another hit and then reply with some more whack crack type response.
Sincerely,
A Z Lover on a Z Forum

I seen a S600 V12 w/ a renntech chip run a 12.4 @ 117 with the traction control clicking on an off for about 1/4 of the track with a baby seat in the back. Week before he ran a 11.9x w/ a 1.8 60 footer.
now thats a fast as 4-door (4,400lbs)
My best is a 13.77 @ 101..4 with a 2.052 60ft and a pretty mean headwind. My first run ever I went 13.805 @ 101.2 with a 2.12 60ft. My 4rd and worst run ever in my Z was a 13.87 @ 100.2 with a 2.09 60ft. All these runs were with a K&N drop in and a grounding kit, and this was my first time to the track with my car.

.They are great cars, not too bad looking in real life and the closest thing performance wise (faster in some cases) you can get to a Z if you don't have the $ to buy a Z. Ya, Ya, WRX...... still, when you spend all of your $ on a car it might be tough to come up with the additional $4-5K for another more expensive car. I'm sure there are a lot of people here who have a "base" Z but would love to have the"higher end" models but couldn't swing the extra $5,000 to do so. Then there is also the arguement that with the $ you save you can sink it into mods!!
My friends are just waiting for the day (soon they hear) that Dodge comes out with the "Stage 3" kit for the SRT4. It will make 305hp and still carry the factory 7year 70K mile warrentee! I know I'm going to think twice about lining up against an SRT4 when that factory kit is out.
