The Z cars not a drag racer..........it handles great, brakes great...........looks great.............but it wasn't meant to kick everybodys butt down the 1/4 mile........still with a few mods it can be respectable ......my altima may beat 98% of Z's in the 1/4 mile, but it can't touch 1 of them, in the corners or with the ladies.....just my 2 cents

Fatblaciks, I guess you were never in a E36 M3, they are not geared for high speed, they are great in 1st and 2nd, okay in 3rd, but they fall flat on their face in 4th and 5th. They Z keeps pulling, especially in 4th and 5th. I was probably more than 5-6 car lengths ahead after 120. Up to 100 i was 3-4, maybe 5 ahead. I raced a 94 rx7 last night, that had a downpipe, intake, intercooler, and blowoff valve. We raced 4 times and i beat him 2x and he beat me 2x, from a roll we were almost dead even, neither of us were pulling ahead. we went upto 140. the times i won it was no more than a car length and the same for the times he won.

Look, I'm not trying to start a flame war; however, I used to have a E36 M3 in white. Bought it from Habbarstad BMW in Huntington. In fact ,I lived on LI up until two years ago. I sold my M3 with 160,000K miles on it, bought my Z. So don't tell me that I never was in one. I logged more seat time in that car then any other car I owned. I loved driving it that much. Anyway, I'll be out on the Island all summer. Just rented a place out in the Hamptons off Tiana road (walking distance of the BB - you know the place). We should meet up, you, your buddy with the SLOW M3 and me. The I can watch you own him, hey we can both own him in a race!! See you this summer!
BTW what town do you live in?
And where do you do all of this "140mph" racing?? DPA??

I smell BS. My friend owns a last gen RX7 and even stock, that thing would be a handful for the Z. There's no way he could've taken on that had a dp, intake, and intercooler (i'm assuming he had an exhaust with these mods too). NO WAY.

Thats interesting. I have an exhaust and computer and trap at 110 in my 94 RX-7. Not to sound mean but I doubt his car was running right with those mods he should have easily smoked your car. Im putting 315.8 HP and 265 TQ @ 12 psi. Also, when you lose the exhaust you lose alot of weight also.

you bring up a good point, an auto 93+ Rx7 is about 1 second slower than the manual and has a much lower trap speed. I would not at all doubt what he is saying if its an auto.

BTW...whats wrong with bob barker?

The rx was a 5spd, I'm not sure about the exhaust, he didn't mention anything about it when I asked him what was done. The car was set at the stock boost (he said 10 psi, not sure what stock is on that car), and had 65k miles on it. I was never in an rx so when we got back to the parking lot, I asked him to take me for a ride. The car was very quiet, and it pulled great in fourth. I felt bad, when he got pulled over for doing 90 in a 40, and got a ticket. I have been racing on the Robert Moses Bridge, going south (its all new pavement). Don't go north, its too bumpy, and on ocean pkwy. Its great for high speed runs, and there's never traffic (just watch out for rabbits, especially if your on a bike). One thing i didn't mention is that when i raced the rx, he had a passenger, and i was alone, My friend was the passenger and weighs about 180lbs.

even in bone stock form the 7 should have won if it was working properly. a Downpipe alone ads nearly 20 HP. I dont doubt your story, I just think his car was ****ed or he cant drive.

BTW...Z's are sweet.

Ah yes,
The Robert Moses Bridge......... every beach day was a high speed run to field 2.
Back to reality. I still call the BS flag on this one and the M3. Like I said all of your "friends" have some nice rides. We should all meet up over the summer. What do you say?
