Default Orange 350Z vs. VR-4

Had a couple good runs with an orange 350Z last night on IL-94 North. Looked all stock. We ran from 50 to about 110 two times and I pulled about 4 carlengths each run.

Anyone from this board? Nice car...

What mods do you have?

from 50 mph you don't have the advantage of the AWD, so you must have some good power.

4-cars length is a pretty good lead, I will reserve my opinions on this one.

I am DR Stage 3. (www.dynamicracing.com), which includes:

K&N Drop-In
Borla Cat-Back
ATR Down Pipe
Blitz DSBC-R @ 15 PSI
UnOrthodox UDP

and Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump, Super-AFC II, which have yet to be FINE tuned with coming injectors.

This nets about 330AWHP, 430 crank HP.

just as you call your car "Zurich White Pearl Metallic" 3000GT VR-4
we like our "ORANGE" 350Zs being refered to as Lemans Sunset please.

Nice car by the way, and good run.

Thanks for the compliments.

And sorry, "Lemans Sunset" .

I pull on stock LS1's pretty easily. I have a vid of me vs. an LS1 (98) but its really dark and about 3 seconds long so its not even worth posting up.

I have trapped at 108 at the track and AWHP and RWHP perform differently from a roll (so the similar trap speed method doesn't work in these situations of roll racing), as proven by my races with LS1's (F-bods and C5's). I have not lost to a stock or lightly modded LS1.

Did you change the IC Y-pipe yet? They tend to blow off at about 15psi peak boost. I haven't checked out Dynamic in a long time (since having my own VR-4). Did you swap out fuel injectors, too?

How's your tranny doing?

From my experience trap speed works the same for AWD and RWD cars.

Trap speed is related to power not to drivetrain, so there should not be any difference between AWD or RWD.

The difference will be reflected on 60' times and ET's

My tranny is fine.
Yea, I have a DN polished Y-Pipe.
I have stock fuel injectors.

I only say that AWD vs. 2WD is different from a roll from personal experience. I have no hard data to base this off of (there was a huge debate on s2ki.com about this) and they concluded that since all 4 wheels were moving and not pulling 2 (FWD/RWD), the AWD car with equal WHP would pull from a roll.

I trap at ~108 at 15PSI.
Stock LS1's usually trap from 104 - 108.

I have pulled everytime I have raced a stock/lightly modded LS1 and a couple of Supra Turbos (DP/Exhaust and another stock) from a roll.

I think I have seen your car around...What area do you live by?

As for traps, AWD cars seem to trap slower than what their ET's show. This is due to the 60' times that you are able to achieve. I think my buddies C5 would give you a run for your money. He trapped at 108 stock and now has i/e.

Yea IIRC I saw a car like yours near great america. I was coming back from Wisconsin on 94, so I was probably your car, since thats not a common vehicle. As for my friends C5, he would probably be up for the strip, but your going to need some more mods to catch him
