Talking 350Z vs. 911

Today I was on my way home from school and on 95 i pulled up next to a fairly new (996) 911. The guy gave me a look and we had a go at it. We went up from about 50-115 and i honestly had him by about a car and a half. My question is how did this happen? I thought i was going to get smoked. My only guess is that this 40 something mid life chrisis victim sucks on the shifter. I could tell he wasnt using a triptronic so my conclusion is that i am either a shifting god or that guy blew. Combination of the two i think. thoughts?

sometimes people think thier car is so far superior that they don't do the little things like downshift, etc... (I have even done it on occasion). It can make a HUGE difference

Two words... hell, and luckyas. Guess which order they go in?

Congrats though... I had a guy at a gas station ask me once about what would happen between a 911 and a 350z on say, a 1/4. Kinda odd since the guy was driving a taurus wagon... And no offense to him or anything, but I know that he doesnt have the cash laying around to buy a 911/996

ok, im done rambling... back to drinking

Early 996's have under 300hp. It is very possible to hang with them. The Z might have a bit more trouble getting the power down because the 996 was wider/better tires, but it is very realistic to be able to hang with an early 996 C2 both in the 1/4 and on a race track.

I agree. He didn't down shift or just sucked. Our cars cannot beat a newer 911, equal drivers.

Good Kill
