so i went to the track and get this
my 1/4 mile was 13.922 at 99.5 mph ( stock touring )
and my friend run 13.926 at 105.4 ( 94 rx-7 )
i didnt race with him it , he was racing right after me , same day same weather condition , im pretty new to racing and my question is how come his speed was 6 mph more that mine if we basically had the same time... might be a bogus question but its haunting me , thanks

do you have the time slips or info about the run? If you give more info maybe we can find what happened.
What tires do your friend has? The traction seems to be the problem, but we need more info.

He had a slower 60 foot, but a more powerful car. So basically he was spending the rest of ther 1/4 making up for a poor launch, while pulling harder than you.
Trap speed is an indicator of HP. So he is clearly making a considerable amount more than you in the HP department, but because of his weak launch he couldn't get a better ET. With a better launch that car will run mid-low 13's.

RX-7's have very bad tracton from a launch, they are always spinning through the first 100-150 feet and then they bite amd they take off.. I see it everytime I go to the track, then the guy put on drag radials for the next week, did a nice burnout to warm them up and he dropped .5 off his 1/4..

btw, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt that his car is close to stock, I don't know of anyone that is INTO cars and has an RX-7 that is close to being stock, LET alone someone who drags it, I bet he has done some work to it
I think a few people mentioned the problem.
When I started racing my first Ninja a while back, I couldn't launch it for ****. I was running low 11's on a bike that should have been at least a second quicker, and I was trapping at like 133mph. The motor was simply strong enough to get up to speed in a short time, after you got the wheel down and got the throttle open.
The point I'm making is that the speed was always (virtually always) faster, the worse the launch was. It's a pretty wierd concept to try to warm up to but I guess it make sense!???

It definitely is modified. I use to have a auto 275hp Z28 stock(0-60 6secs, mid 14s 97 give or take. I raced a 93 newer rx7 manual it was alittle quicker half car length to 80+. Stock rx7 is mid 5s and low 14s 98 give or take.
