350 Z -vs- BMW330ci...???????
Did anyone ever run against a BmW 330ci... I did last nite...DAMN! the fu*kin 300 is QUICK ...He was hanging with me I was shocked .. Then I ran against him again and beat him by like a half car ... Anyone have similar experiences....????
The BMW is stock.

That seems a little surprising to me. I took care of an E36 M3 pretty easily the other day.
I have yet to race a 330, but some punk 17 year old with a sport shift 325 tried to race me the other day. It wasn't pretty. Now that BMW leases their cars for next to nothing I guess more and more younger kids are getting in them.

j/k, I have run against a friend in a G35 sedan (a 6.2 sec car), I bearly beat him, BUT I didn't give it 100%, b/c I thought I'd have him easier than I did, NEVER underestimate anyone, because you can get beat real easy that way. in other words if you go 90% and they go 100% they have you, the 330 is a decently quick car, enuf so that you have to be careful but equal drivers, the Z wins no problem.

Are you sure you took care of an E36 M3 pretty easily? I used to own an 98 E36 M3. Bought brand new. HP is lower than our Z, but 0-60 numbers are close. I can get 5.5 0-60 on my E36 M3, and most magazines says the car can do 0-60 in 5.4-5.8. That's our Zs acceleration numbers. I don't think the guy in the M3 is really racing you!! IMHO.
And believe me, I'm well aware of what every magazine wrote about the E36 M3 and how much of a good car it is.

That is surprising, I had one before I got the Z..

and a few local guys I still hang out with have played around a few times so far and they haven't been that close at all. Don't get me wrong though, I loved my E46 and it was quick as **** for not being looked at as a "sports car" But like everyone said so far, the driver is key in any match-up

KJ, are you in socal, I used to see a car exactly like that one all the time (I went to grad school at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, and saw a car like that at school a bunch of times, was it you????)
nice ride, BTW

actually looking at the pic closer it looks like you model is newer than the one I saw, the front bumper/fascia and lights have the newer look (although NOT the latest/2003 look either).

My friend has a stock 99 M3 manual, we raced about ten times and i beat him everytime. We went from stops and roll ons, i was never behind. 1 and 2 gear its close (1/2 car), but 3rd i just pulled away and kept pulling. He also has an S2K that i raced around 5 times, I beat that car too. His brother has an '02 330ci with a manual. He put an intake and exhaust on it and i beat him by as much as I did the M3. These two brothers are my friends and neighbors, so I know exactly whats done to their cars and I know they were giving it all. They are both real good drivers with racing experience. The Z is just quicker. They were both shocked and pissed that their cars got beat.

This is a reply to React3, did you guys race from a line/roll or just downshift during cruising? unless the 330 has some performance parts in it you should have been able to beat it easily, seriously, easily, like beating a stock 5L mustang gt. or a 3kgt n/a , or a supra n/a. but it all does depend in the driver....
when i first got my 350 I ran against my friend's manual 330ci.... we took it to about 135. 330 is definately fast and a very nice ride, however I was able to pull on him everytime. Given that the 330's 3rd gear has alot of power and seems very long.
