How sweet would a 450Z be with the 340HP 333TQ V8 in it be?Maybe Tweaked to be higher for a high performance application say 350HP/350TQ? Sell it for say 40-44k with some exterior and suspension upgrades. It probably would be safe to say it would rival a corvette's acceleration numbers running close to 13 flat or better.

That thing still appears to be making good horsepower at redline, anybody with one of those engines would probably have good results if they swapped out the stock valvesprings for some beefier ones and raised their redline.

I agree. Add a good CAI and some headers and exhaust mods and that would be one not to flex with. Some rumors suggest that the Skyline GT-R may use this configuration. Other rumors suggest that the HP target is around 450 HP. Again, we will see what REALLY happens once those crappy lawyers get a hold of the good idea.

You have no idea how much I can sympathize with that statement! I work at Honda R&D (Engine/Chassis Electrical Research) and I've had to deal with our lawyers on a couple of occaisions. If we weren't spending so much time "idiot-proofing" our cars to save people from themselves, we could spend a lot more time making them faster... Oh well, thats how it goes I guess...

Now who says ALL LS1 guys are jerks and 350Z owners think their cars are invincible?

Thanks for the intelligent discussion. You are alright in my book.

Here this how you should have worded your statement.

"Fast, not fast, I dont care. In my humble and uninformed opinion, suplemented by my ignorance, I believe Camaro and Firebirds to be of lesser quality than what I have become accustomed to. Thank you that is my opinion"

Was it really necessary for you to make this comment? It doesn't further the conversation in any way, shape or form. Please, keep your uneducated opinion to yourself. We'll all be better off that way.

Sorry Bro. I should have showed more respect. Hopefully not harm no foul. (I was not serious in my reply. Note the grin emoticon.)

Agreed!

xZlr8,
I have to go with my V8 brothers on this one. Those comments were not warranted. No need to disrespect others nor what they drive. Show a little class. After all you do represent us 350Z owners. We don't want to have the reputation of being elitist ******. There are plenty of other car owners to fill that bill.

I hate this thread...

Couple of questions tho:

1) Kinda embarrasing since I used to drive one, but why are they called "f-bodies"?

2)Why did Ford go lower in the displacement on the Mustang?

3)Has anyone seen the 2005 mustang at the NYC auto show. They are bringing back the "fastback". The thing is GORGEOUS!!

1) The term "F-body" is a frame code for GM's Camaros or Firebirds. Corvettes are Y-bodies". Cavaliers are "J-bodies". The list goes on and on. I'm sure this correllates to like Z33 for the 350Z, that is the chassis code right?

2) Ford has built 351c.i. engines before, as well as 427's, etc. For the mustang platform I'm not really sure why they went smaller from the 5.0 to the 4.6. Somebody like BlackDemon could probably answer that one.

3) I really like the '05 Mustang too.

Right. That's why our forums have never been filled with posts about how to wet sand a new paint job.
