Default automatic racing techniques

I am really interested in learning how to race. I am not talking about just street racing. I am talking about any kind of racing: drag racing or any kind of course racing. I know most comes from experience but I would like to know some beginner techniques on how to race an automatic. I can't really find any good technique websites.

I know the one question that I have is, Will it hurt my transmission if I rev in neutral and shift into drive? I really know nothing about racing auto's. please help me...

Leave that technique to rental cars.

Well, racing an automatic is not fundamentally different from racing any other car. You still have to know how and when to brake, turn-in, throttle steer to the apex, and power out through to your track out. You can do all that just as well with an auto as with a manual.

You should register for an advanced driver's school. Since you're in Jersey, your best bet might be the BMW CCA--NJ Chapter. They run events at Lime Rock and Summit Point. Anyway, a school is the way to go!
