Default Back to the track again...

well this was a last minute thing but was fun as allways. My new best is a 14.29 @ 97.99... My 60' time was 2.179.. It did rain and was on a very busy day with dragsters.. WOW there loud.. I have to get my 60' better. I pretty much did nothing I said I was going to do and shifted at redline everyshift.. I feel I can run much better then this at least 14 flatish..

Im a lil confused would it be better to rev to 1500 and dump clutch and floor it.. or rev to 2500 and feather the clutch and 3/4 throttle and increase to floored VERY quickly??? After I left the track I tried both and could tell what was faster both were minimal wheel spin.. Im trying to figure this out logicaly by HP's and what RPMs start when at traction...

launching on the track and on the street are two totally different thing. I pull off consistant 2.0 60's by slipping the clutch from 3500rpms...sometimes a get a tiny bit of spin and hop...but my Z gets out of the hole pretty good.

as for shifting...there is nothing wrong with shifting @ redline with our VQs....they hold the power enough to redline to still be making better torque multiplication at redline than at the bottom of the next gear. I pretty much shift redline all the time at the track.

I hit the rev limiter(6900rpm) once and got the time below..I need better traction and probably get 14.0. Seems like the drag strip is more slippery then the street, because of the water.

IMO ..... this guy has got the right idea!!! definatly rev her up high ... 3500-3700 is where i rev and slip........ if you do it just right ...and contorl spin and hop ..... when u hook up, youll be at around 4500 or so ...... already way up in you powerband ... so shes just gonna pull like a **** throughout the rest of first ......

problem with launching at such a low rmp is, yes, you can get good 60' out of it ....... but your still not really getting out of the hole to fast like that.....

hers a good question /........ can u post your 330' ..... alot of times i think thats a relly inportand # ..... and that it may even be more usefull than 60' numbers

i pulled a 5.91 330' on my stock Z ..... which from what i hear is really good ........ and that put me at my 14.0 @ only 97.6mph!!!
