three emails and three international phone calls today and nothing in reply.

I'm really starting to wonder if CVR are in financial trouble.

yes. but because CVR asked me to send the money as a personal payment, i can't make a claim for an item that wasn't delivered. I have asked them to reconsider, but i don't like my chances. An expensive lesson for me i guess.

That being said, i'm not giving up. i'm re-posting this thread on a new car forum for each day they don't pay.

Oh man, NEVER use the PayPal personal payment option. But, even if you had sent a regular payment, the time limit for a complaint and refund is likely past. Good luck with this, and hopefully the vendor will do the right thing. Did you by any chance send the personal payment using a credit card (rather than a bank balance transfer)? If so, maybe the CC company can help.

Another thought - Do you have any record of the vendor asking you to send a personal payment for the merchandise? That's probably a violation of PayPal's terms of service, especially for a business account (if that's what the vendor has), and perhaps PayPal can use that as a reason to back you up with a refund.

no - the other mistake ive made. have set up my paypal so it comes off my mastercard now. i urge anyone else reading this to do the same.

and yes you're right: you have to challenge the transaction within 45 days. the only reason i didnt was because CVR kept saying they'd sent the exhaust.

That's basically how the scam works... They brush you off for a certain ammount of time until it's to late to make a claim to paypal... Especially by giving you a fake tracking number so you can wait and wait, and they kill time by doing that...

I really do hope you get this sorted out OP... Can someone in NY pay these guys a visit?

Well, that's something, and I'd let PayPal know the details. Might be your only possible chance. Sounds like the vendor is in financial trouble, though, which is a bad sign. No doubt you've been defrauded, but vendor may not have any funds in their PayPal account to attach.

Maybe they are bankrupt and do not have any money.

Chris was active here 2 months ago, you should post your story here too:

The last 2 pages of that thread are interesting.

There's also a link to his myspace page under their profile name.

Good work guys. Lets keep the pressure on these clowns. I will link this to a thread in the NE section to see if we can't get someone to swing by the shop that lives in NY.
