Plans For My NA Build
I've decided to go NA... i'm gonna go slowly but i'd like your opinion on my plans... It's gonna be a slow process but i'm hoping tobe done in 2 years. I know it's alot but I like to set goals for myself

any plans for headwork? port, polish, upsize valves...? looks like youre not planning to go too crazy besides the 3.8L part, but should be a fun motor when done. i hope you plan to get it all well balanced by a shop
I'm still not decided about what I want to do for the head but i'm probally gonna port and polish and get better valves. IMO a 3.8L VQ with 12.0:1 compression and 280* cams is great. I'm hoping for 300+whp and a rev limit of 8k

12:1 compression is great & all but may prove to be a pain for a street car. If you get 93 octane in NY it may be doable. If it proves troublesome it may require you to have less aggressive timing, which equals less power despite the raised compression.
With an 11:1 compression I had trouble tuning out some pinging I was experiencing with the lovely 91 octane we get in Ca & Ut (this was with an H22 Honda engine though & not a VQ, so a VQ may be a different beast when it comes to compression).

This is going to be an awesome and what seems very safe setup! You may as well throw in the (Nissan Pathfinder™ Cooling Modification) while your at it. At a glance, this look like a 20k project easily! Still cheaper than a 911 all said and done!
Its crazy, but when you think about it your not too far from a race engine. As far as the 20k n/a project, HP to $$ ratio and using it as a DD, I would also consider just dropping in V8, like NOAH. But if you're Nissan crazy, you'll do this

Interesting. I love to see people building killer NA motors.
The only question I have is why you are going to use sleeves. If you don't really need them, I'd skip them... especially since it looks like you're using stock sized pistons.
Or... if you really want the sleeves... why not bore the motor to 100mm and go for a 4.1L build... just a thought.

you should do alot more research in terms of what you are getting yourself into

If you are concerned about torque you might want to stay away from long duration cams then. Yeah I understand that, but from all the setups I used for strokers it seemed like a better idea to not use long duration cams. I did plots for a 3.7 and 4.1 strokers and it seems like using long duration cams would actually require revving over 8k to take full advantage of them, anyone know if the 4.1 has the ability to rev over 8k reliably?
I have to say that the powerband that I liked the most was the 4.1, which made the highest power at 6500 rpm. I will try to get more scenarios with different cams/strokers/CRs.
