Default N/A build questions

Im kind of new to getting a N/A motor. I always wanted to get boost but oh well i think it would be smarter for me to start with internals and motor before i ever think about going FI. Im currently deployed in Iraq and I kinda set a limit to how much I want to spend on my motor to start out. I also live in Miami, Fl if anyone knows some peeps that can do a serious work on my engine. I set my initial limit to $3000. Current stuff I have is:

ACT Stage 2 clutch
AEM CAI
Powerlab plenum Spacer

the mods I was thinking of putting first are as follows:

Brian Cower Stage 2 Cams
Brian Cower connecting Rods with ARP custom fastners
JE Pistons

this puts me at $2599

First decision you have to make is whether or not you plan on going FI down the road or not. It seems to me from your post that it might be a consideration for you down the road.

As someone who's gone down this road on my own car, the build is made up of far more costs than the sum of the parts. You have to clearly, and honestly, define your goals for the car, and clearly define a budget for yourself, and what that budget will accomplish. $3000 might get you the above parts (and why you picked those parts, vs others, should be something you think and plan out carefully, vs going off a whim), but it will not get you a built motor, tuned, with those parts.

Like Kwame said, the parts you use for a true NA build will not always easily translate into an FI build. It sounds like you have alot of research to start doing
