A screaming 400hp VQDE would be nice, but ($17,431) makes you see the reality of it. Especially when you have 10k (oil coolers/LG radiator, drivetrain components, gauges, exhaust from the block back, ECU, etc.) to finish off a project like this correctly.

didn't SCC just use the factory short block ?

Well first of all, the hobby I enjoy, (the car hobby) has been goin on long before that lil guy was even born. Thus he couldn't have pioneered it. And I seriously doubt he could teach me much about building and engine. You have know idea who the man behind this screen name is, so stop pontificating

Call it pontificating if you want, I could care less

As far as the 'man behind the keyboard theory', I'm fairly sure that the person who started these two threads

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...ml#post4544297

and

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...ml#post1557615

Is not going to teach Eric Hsu about engines. Or, maybe you're just dumbing it down for the forum and you're really a top race engineer in disguise. Either way, top form

you cant run nitrous all the time around a road course... having an engine like this would be pointless without racing it.

I have to admit... In the world of my350z conflicts... which are considerable... That was the best putdown I have ever seen!

Well done, Adam...

LMAO @ a cosworth engineer not being able to teach a peon that can't tighten belts or understand simple gear ratios.

WOOOOW!! What a dick you are! First you reference a thread from 4 years ago that I started regarding the rear diff and the effects of gears. I admittedly have little experience and none at the time with the drivetrain side of things. From the trans back I’m quite the novice. Looking back I guess it was a silly question but I wasn't sure if the effects of the FD gear were equally proportional across the RPM band. If you don't know, then you don't know.

As far as far as belts squealing, well never have I had to deal with slipping belts on any cars that I previously had with or without underdrive pulleys on. I had a feeling upon first inspection thats what was causing the noise but it takes 20 secs to check on the forum and leave no doubt. Once it was confirmed, I fixed it. Now its done and done.

However, that still has lil to do with the mechanics behind the workings of a motor, whats involved in building a motor and furthermore, whats involved in making power out of an engine. Whether we're discussing headers: collector design, length/ diameter of primaries, Valvetrain: cam size ( lift/ duration), valve size, valve face angle, rocker design, rocker ratio or the short block: be it the deck height, rotating assembly, main and rod clearances or whatever. I assure you, I am faar more versed on the subject than you have been lead to believe. Thus I stand by my comment. I'm not saying this guy doesn't know more than I do, hell that how he puts food on his table. But I assure, we'd be able to converse freely on the subject. I've had the fortuitous opportunity to learn directly from some of the finest engine builders in this country. (all them had personality BTW)

Anywhoo, I've already been longer winded than initially intended, but I'll leave you with a pic of one the projects goin on in my life. this will be a 1300HP driver. You should be seeing it on the cover of some publication before summer hopefully.

Default Want to see what a 3.5L N/A Cosworth VQ can do?

I'll be posting my dyno results when I eventually get my tuning done here:

http://www.*********.com/forums/inde...pic=40564&st=0

I'll mirror it when it's done or can post here too I suppose.

Should be interesting!

^ A turbo timer on a N/A engine?

Also, wasn't this just an engine building competition? If so, what's all the drivetrain parts for?
