But you're going to show us anyway right?

Just a hunch, but did you snap an axle?

So you busted an axle on the first run? Or did you atleast get a few in before the axle quit?

you didn't preload the drivetrain enough.. 350z's are very tempermental.. you have to do more feathering..

bring the car up to a suitable RPM... 4000 RPMS.. 3000 RPMS.. and feather the clutch with the gas... when i had my maxima i would launch from 5000 rpms and feather the clutch... but i'm never tried that with a Z... anyway you have to slowly let clutch out to minimize wheels spin and shock to the drivetrain.. you can't just dump the clutch and kill the gas.. that will break the axles.. especially if you're running super sticky tires like slicks or drag radials

As I learned in shop class back in 1970, the weakest link in the drivetrain will break, best to have a clutch that can slip than a broken axle, IMHO. Something has to give. Tire spin, or clutch slip, or broken axle, or broken rear end, etc.

Good luck on getting it back up...we all wish you the best with your project.

Well for now I welded the diff. Im getting a KAAZ diff at the end of summer but for now I need as much traction as I can get. My VLSD was smoked making all the power go to the driver side which is why I think it broke. I should be able to launch a little harder now without worrying about snapping one axle...I had a spool in one of my trans ams and it wasnt that bad other than parking and backing up.

With how cheap and easy axles are to replace..im okay breaking those. A clutch is much more expensive and more of a pain to replace. =)

lol, this reminds me of my honda days. a friend of mine had a h22 swapped civic, and the axles would snap all the time cause the angle was off, he eventually was able to swap axles in 15 mins, he'd do it in the autozone parking lot...
