Any idea roughly how much HP I might see with better test pipes? I'm willing to give up a few HP to have the resonators and it be quieter

...says the guy with the electronic cutout. With stock mid pipe and muffler, you really shouldn't be too loud at all. I wouldn't sweat it. Keep it as is.

Headgames does extremely good work. Expect those heads to flow in the 330+cfm range.

Kaczyou must be an hor or two away from me. I know we work fairly close by.

haha, good point sir. but really, when i say i am willing to sacrifice a few hp to keep things quieter, i mean quiet with the cut out closed and sacrificing a few hp with the cutout open.

basically, the car is going to be loud with the cutout open, thats just fact. but with it open, performance is top priority and how the car sounds is basically last on my priority list. its opposite with the cutout closed, performance is not at the top of my list, but sound is more important.

i dont want to scare my neighbors half to death everytime i start my car, but at the same time, as im tracking around miller motorsports park i could care less how loud and raspy it is, if that makes sense. the cutout was my solution to keeping a quiet, classy sounding car without sacrificing a lot of performance.

but if the megan test pipes will hurt performance quite a bit or will limit where i make peak hp, then i will get something else.

what do you guys think of the R2C intakes? considering one because of cams, head work, and flowing exhaust

So my heads should be here soon, is there a book or reference site that details engine assembly and all torque specs? I'll need something since I've never put a vq together before, thanks

when you say esm, do you mean the factory service manual? i think i know of a place to get that.

the nismo parts are the R-tune headers with the date stamped on them the day they were made

What is there to stess? Replicate the upper manifold by SG, use your worked lower and a good size spacer. That should give you the volume and the flow you need. As far as intakes, I always have recommended long tube type intakes over short ram style.

Did you modify the intake piece the lower plenum sits on? I gained almost 15hp in the top end over a 5/16 spacer w/stock non rev plenum from 250 to 264hp. I just added a 1/2 spacer to my ported lower plenum pieces.

Pm me your email I'll send you the dyno sheet this is on a non-rev 5at so gains should be more since you are 6mt. I'm using the stock intake on my G35.

are you talking about the collector on the right in this picture?

the ports are smoothed out and it is gasket matched. and i am also an auto G so should be the same. so, you ported the lower plen too? im guessing that is where you got most of your gain from. ill send a pm

Intakes... this engine's intake system left so much on the table its should almost be embarassing to the system's designers. In year over year versions they got substantially better, but it left those of us with the Mk 1 versions looking for more.

I look at it like this,
-Easy and cheap good performer, Basic DE lower (mod or unmodified) + 5/16 or 1/2 spacer
-Reasonable priced and possibly best and easiest bolt up overall performance, MREV2 with spacer
-Best top end, unsure, the mod'ed upper intake on the SG Motorsports car shows the Rev-up plenum can make more power on top than most others, but will likely have lower under the curve numbers.
