If you do, intake, plenum spacer, mrev2, nwp throttle body, headers, test pipes, y pipe, catback, and a GOOD tune you may hit around 285-290whp.
This is what I like to hear!

I looked up the nwp throttle body and I could easily add that to my list before the tune from Z1. Thanks for the suggestion.

Don't let these guys bum you out. There is still plenty of fun to be had going NA. My 06 is pretty boned out with NA mods and has a GREAT tune. the numbers will appear a little high since it was tuned on a Dynapac (hub) dyno at see level.

here is the flaw in your logic, doing na a certain way is only going to net a certain performance amount too many people get hung up on dyno numbers when the fact of the matter is the car isnt going to perform any different from every single other one with similar numbers. the actual performance shows that the Z na performs pretty shitty. you could spend 20k doing a full stroker kit, high compression, e85, aggressive tune, cams, and all the bolt ons and still perform worse then a basic stillen kit which can be had alot cheaper.

I thought all NA builds were just preparing for supercharging.....We all just improve the efficiency of the Aluminium air pump first and claim its fun.

thanks for sharing.

I have a question.. If I get the ART test pipes, MREV2, and NWP throttle body would my car still be safe to drive without a tune? Obviously I would need a tune and I would get one ASAP but Z1 is ~150 miles away from me right now and potentially ~350 miles away from where I will be installing the goods. Would it be okay to drive it that far pre-tune?

Yes you'll be fine just don't hold off on the tune for too long.. My old Z I drove around with full bolt ons / no tune for about a year and didnt do any harm other than check engine lights for sensors, etc...

So I have a little theory on this subject. Not sure if this happens with all the Revup cars but my stock tune was always off. I'm saying that it was off even before I put any mods on the car. With the stock car I would experience knocking in the upper RPM range. This knocking has always been present regardless of the engine modifications. I've never run anything but 91 octane fuel. Furthermore, it has never had anything but Mobile1 or Royal Purple dumped into it. The car has essentially been babied but it has always knocked in the upper RPM range.

Like many other Revup engines I experience some mild oil consumption. I don't necessarily think that the Revup engine came equipped with faulty rings. I honestly think the stock tune caused detonation that lead to my Oil Consumption issue. Other folks on this forum have had the Revup motor replaced with factory short blocks hoping the OC would go away. In most cases the problem comes back. Again, I don't think Nissan replaced a bad block with another bad block. I believe the stock tune produces knock which gradually leads to OC issues.

How do I know the stock tune sucks?
Take a look at my dyno chart. you'll notice the stock AF ratio is not good. and "Todd" the tuner at Church Automotive informed me that car had considerable detonation in the upper RPM range. This was a combination of the stock AF and ignition tables. He also informed me that this was not uncommon with the Revup G35 and 350z models.

How does it run now?
Not only did the tune resolve ALL of the detonation issues, I also have a nice bump in NA power. Read my earlier post for a full description.

Hindsight
If I was to start this project all over a gain I would have chose the exact same mods just in a different order. This would have worked better.
1) Tune (even with the stock car)
2) Oil Cooler
3) All my other engine mods
4) Re-Tune

My recommendation to Doggman9 is to get the tune first. Re-Tunes are cheap, for the most part.

Retunes usually run $250ish. I recommend doing all mods first then getting a tune.

I didn't understand the post when I first read it. sounds like you plan to install your mods and then get the car tuned shortly after. That would be totally fine and save a little money.

I got 273 RWP with plenum spacer, test pipes, exhaust and tune. I did blow my motor after 5 seasons of NASA Time Trials when I over heated it at High Plains Colorado. I'm deciding how I want to rebuild with possible big bore kit ect. for next season in Arizona. I Plan on oversize radiator, oil cooler and accusump this time!

To get to 300 you will need cams. Or maybe e85 like guy above.

So all you needed was fuel pump and bigger injectors. I daily my car i dont kno if that would change things

i thought 300+ hp was attainable with full bolt ons and a custom welding job on the upper plenum with a 80mm tb and 3.5" intake tube?

You'll get crap gas mileage...and unless you have a standalone that incorporates a flex sensor, you'll be driving station to station and need to make sure you get something close (in ethanol content) to what you were tuned on.
