Very strange cylinder compression and oil pressure combination
So I have a vq35de. Since ive owned it which is only about 2 months it's been repair after repair. Now im running into a issue I can't seem to figure out. I have the dreaded low oil pressure at idle. So I got my mechanical oil pressure tester out along with my cylinder compression tester today and the results were rather strange imo. I came back at 150psi spot on across the board with my compression test. So I go and do the oil pressure test and its accurate within 1lb of my dash gauge which sits a 0-2lb pressure after warm and sitting idle. After its been driven any distance and has warmed up I can smell oil burning when I get out after shutting her down. I have replaced the gallery gaskets and the oil pressure sending unit within the last month if that. Now im scratching my head wondering what in the hell could cause that. Maybe its not as strange as I feel it is but it doesn't seem right and I can't find anything on this exact issue anywhere for any vehicle. I plan to do a leak test tomorrow on oil and cooling system with my smoke tester. I know I have a leak or leaks somewhere but I don't feel like that's the only cause to my issues. The flawless compression readings was definitely a fairly big relief as it tells me the cylinders, pistons, and rings are most likely fine and machining the block is not in the near future. But im still worried about that oil pressure and don't want to be that guy that killed his vq over something like idling at a stop light. PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT HERE OR EXPLAIN WHY THE FUNKY PRESSURE READING WITH PERFECT COMPRESSION.

Welcome.
If your verified oil pressure is 0-2 lbs on separate gauges do not pass go, do not drive it until the oil pump has been replaced.
You don't state whether you smell burned oil from exhaust or engine bay. If it's engine bay, find the leak and repair it. If it's exhaust most people live with it or have the valve guides checked/replaced.

Burning from engine bay. Sorry about that it was late when I posted. I'm about to go do leak test here shortly. I'll post my find after I get done and I was kinda wondering if my pump was going bad I'll get a replacement ordered asap along with timing being im gonna be right there again.
