Default Real high oil pressure!!!

So today i was driving home and i looked at my oil pressure gauge and i noticed it was reading bout 115 to 120 around 60 mph. When i came to a stop an let the car idle it was reading about 80 psi, but when i took off and get about 3k rpms the oil pressure needle goes way past 120. I was wondering if anyone knew why it is doing this my warranty on my car runs out in about 1000 miles so i wud like to figure something out before then with it. I have a 03 touring with test pipes and exhaust and my oil hasnt been changed since 3400 miles ago so its bout time for that. Can someone help me out...

Had the same problem after drag racing. Oil pressure was 100 plus PSI. Replaced the oil pressure relief valve. Everything is good.

Its the oil pressure sensor, you can get it from the stealership. CIN replaced mine last year due to the same problem.

My bad. The job order reads oil pressure sensor. Parts plus labor $290.

I don't want to bring this back from the dead. But if you experience this issue, try tapping the oil pressure gauge. Apparently mine does the same thing but it's the oil gauge, not the sensor. I would use that as a starting point.

Sometimes it will randomly peak at 120 under medium load, and stick. Then I'll tap the gauge and it will go back down to 60.
