So today i was driving home and i looked at my oil pressure gauge and i noticed it was reading bout 115 to 120 around 60 mph. When i came to a stop an let the car idle it was reading about 80 psi, but when i took off and get about 3k rpms the oil pressure needle goes way past 120. I was wondering if anyone knew why it is doing this my warranty on my car runs out in about 1000 miles so i wud like to figure something out before then with it. I have a 03 touring with test pipes and exhaust and my oil hasnt been changed since 3400 miles ago so its bout time for that. Can someone help me out...
I don't want to bring this back from the dead. But if you experience this issue, try tapping the oil pressure gauge. Apparently mine does the same thing but it's the oil gauge, not the sensor. I would use that as a starting point.
Sometimes it will randomly peak at 120 under medium load, and stick. Then I'll tap the gauge and it will go back down to 60.
well i have to bring this back instead of starting a new thread, i did a 4th and 5th gear pull tonight and then after that i had real high oil psi... it is 120 plus driving and lugging it home and when idling at around 80...is it my oil psi sensor u say? is that what ur problem was op?
solved and ordered a new oil psi sensor..thank god for this forum and the search function..too bad for a holiday and having to wait till tues. for it to be shipped to me..
