Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and figure you guys will have more knowledge and experience with Z's than me.

I'm not a new 350Z owner as of yet but keeping my fingers crossed.

I love everything about the Z and can live with what I'm not crazy about but...honestly I'm afraid to buy the car with what I'm hearing about tire shredding and I'm hoping those who are new buyers or veterans can share some information with me.

I live in Cols. Ohio, 32, female. I love the Z as I said but the hx of the car scares me. Not sure I want to put up with getting new tires every 10K miles because the aligment is messed up and can't be fixed.

Does anyone know just how big a problem its been? I know the 03's were bad and the 04's are better, but I haven't been able to find anyone with an 05 that they've had long enough for their opinion.

I know not every car is going to do it but I'm just wondering what everyone has considered?

Also, why did you by the Z over the Infiniti G35 Coupe - they're almost identical in appearance and about the same price.

Don't know how someone got a base model for $24K which is great and isn't that way below invoice??? What was MSRP? I'm just jealous!

If anyone has an info. to share, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

hi and welcome

regarding tyre feathering - seems like some people got and some didn't.

seems like some had it fixed - by checking alignment and replacing tyres with another brand

some reported it fixed by changing suspension/ shocks

as i'm in south africa - can't answer your other questions - we don't have infiniti nor different models to choose from.

depending on what you want to do with your car (mods?), think well before choosing which model you want.

finally, if you can afford to buy now - don't wait. if you expect to wait until you have a perfect car, you'll wait forever.

enjoy

There are many threads on this issue and you can read for days with a wide array of opinions.

Some are happy; others are ready to sue Nissan. So it’s up to you and your personal situation. My question would be: Knowing that the 'tire thing' may happen and you may have to pay for those to be replaced, is that something that will stop you from the purchase? If so, you have your answer.

I bought my car as a toy (second car) and the tire thing does not worry me. For the miles I drive it has only come up once in the last 17 months. I have really enjoyed my car and no concerns.

Not sure about recommendations, but for me, I talked to the dealer, asked specifically what they will do about any potential tire feathering, put it on the offer, and enjoyed the car. I have a '04 bone stock car and replaced front tires at ~12k, but my dealer gave them to me free with no hassle at all. Others have said the dealer would not give them tires for an '04 (or probably an '05). Probably need to work that out before/during the purchase.

Hope you get the Z. I think it's a really fun car for the purpose intended.

How about you STFU and go waste time on another site.

I don't know that the tire feathering problem is fixed as of yet. Either replacing the suspension w/ an aftermarket one or replacing the stock tires seems to eliminate the problem.
