93 Octane in the Z?
The owners manual recommends 93 octane. At $3.15 a gallon it's getting expernsive. Does anyone use a lower octane in their Z. If yes, do you notice a difference..
Thanks...
Thanks...
i bought my Z as a driver not something I'd care that petroleum prices affecting how the car's diet would change nor my driving habits. I paid 3.99 after Katrina for premium gas and I sucked it up...
3.15 sounds like a bargain here..

Just look around for a gas station that only charges 10 cents more for premium, that's where I shop
Then it's like the difference between your car getting 30 mpg and 31mpg, would you really notice that?

Yes, I'm not sure what it is, but it has to do with the blend. It's a California thing that has spread to pretty much all of the west, due to distribution issues. We, Arizona, were able to get 92 up until a couple of years ago, when we started to receive California Gas, pun intended.

We have (1) station in the entire City of Colorado Springs that sells 93, guess what, they have been out of it for a month now! Dam Hurricanes! And the sad part is, its 20 cents more a gallon than 91,
93 is only thing that i've put in my z.
(i'm on the east coast, so i am lucky that way) besides, most of the time the savings between 93 and 91 here is like 5 cents a gallon, thats what a buck difference if you're bone dry?
stick with the 93 if its available to you, you're z will be happier.

i use 94 octane...not sure if it makes a difference in performance but it does make my car backfire more...meaning the engine can't fully take advantage of the gas..
probably not worth the extra 4 cents a gallon but....like tk2005 said...big deal

I use sunoco 94 octane, its not worth messing up your block for a .10 cents difference, dont be cheap and just buy the suggested octane gas! After all you did buy a Z not a civic.. TREAT IT WITH RESPECT.
