This may sound stupid, but how come your rims dont have that volk label on them, how did they take it off?

damn it, now i want the 06, I love the steering wheel. I'm surprised that yiou couldn't get the nismo steering wheel and gauge cluster. That would be some great additions. Overall sweet looking car, making me very envious

Nope..You're right .. it says "GT R-Tune". Not "GT-R."

I'm sure you'll make up those lost minutes elsewhere...

That's just how they had when I picked it up. I like the wiper down there. Kind of tidy lookin. I'll never use it anyway so I just let it stay there.

I appreciate all the kind words! Definitely post a pick of that Interlagos! I haven't seen one in-person yet but I hear it is quite wild lookin. Enjoy!

Cheers,

Have to say why isnt Nissan selling 350Z's this way ? I think this is the best looking Z out hands down, not too flashy just clean and classy. To top it off it is all Nissan Nismo parts right ?

I have been driving my boss 2nd M5, he lets me borrow his 2001 BMW M5 every now and then (lucky me I know ) But how would SmokyZ's be compared to a used M5 in 0-60 and handling ?

The M5 is fun, but dont like the look of it compared to this Z, and it has 62,000miles

Thanks

Thanks a bunch! My goal throughout was to keep as close to the Nismo spec package as I could. And it is 100% except for the wheels, and I really like the way these turned out.

I just rented a DVD on netflix, "Best Motoring: The 350Z Shock". Turns out I'd already downloaded a few clips of this, but it's a great rent..lots of good stuff about the 350 and other cars too. Anyway, one chapter is a track comparison which includes a 350Z, an M3, an S2000, and a Boxster. The Boxster comes in dead-last. 350Z wins the competition, but the M3 got the fastest lap time. The only mod to the 350 was a Nismo oil cooler.

So the 350Z can stand up to an M3 on the track according to this test...at least the M3 of today because it is quite hefty. The Z is no lightweight but for it's class and comfort level it isn't too heavy. That's the advantage.

I think that depending on the track the M5 will either come in second, or, just complete demolish the Z. If there are too many long straights then forget it. Nismo or not. But on a tight track a stock Z would give the super-fat M5 a run. With the right tires I'm sure the combination on my car would do quite well. This car screams to be pushed and I love it!

The Nismo parts, as I'm learning now having a week of driving the car, are successful in bringing the Z up to an honest "next level". It was exactly what I was looking for after test driving a stock one. Everything is sharper. There is NO understeer...the balance is perfect. There is NO lean, no roll. The Nismo package is very well sorted and thought out. It's something I would hesitate to ever mess with.

A few parts, like the lightweight flyhweel and the 1.5 LSD are not for everyone. They are a little noisy when you're puttin around town. You get some chatter every now and then. But it's easy to live with and, imho, adds a great deal to the sporting character of the car. The flywheel lets the revs hover in between shifts, which is very sweet. The diff is so hooked-up that it makes safety electronics like the VDC almost unnecessary (and always disabled anyway if you have these parts).

She's absolutely everything I wanted and tons more. It was actually a surprise how much more I love this car then I even thought I would...and that was after several months of waiting and anticipation! I could go on and on...dang..looks like I already did.

Cheers,
-Smoky

Whoever said that this was the nicest Z he'd ever seen,

I agree 100%. Definitely the nicest one I've ever seen as well.

All that stuff must've cost at least $46-47k OTD. Crazy man, but totally worth it.
