Cool Base Model 06

I'm about to buy a new 06 base model and i was just wondering what you guys were thinking of it. I want to know if its worth it or if i should save some more money up and get the touring.

I cant wait to get rid of my eclipse and jump into a Z i kinda dream about it every day. Cant wait till i can get of this boat and do the paper work for the trade in.

But like i was saying let me know what you guys think.

Well, it depends on what you consider must haves. Do you need leather? what about an mp3 player? perhaps 18" wheels?

With just those 3 things i just said, you are better off getting aftermarket. just my .02

If I could do it all over again, I'd get the 06 track in magnetic black. The leather in the touring is nice, but the cloth on the 06's is a lot better than the old 03-05 cloth.

I think the track is totally worth it if you don't plan on changing out the brakes or the wheels.

Base is good if you plan to mod the crap out of the car. But I'd recommend at least an enthusiast model to 99% of new owners.

Also, please search around the forums a lot as most of your questions will have been answered. And welcome! Good luck hunting for the new Z.

depends.... if power leather seats, VDC (if u get a manual) and mp3 capability really matter to you, then i say go for the touring. the only thing that matter to me about the touring is the mp3 capabilities, i have an 06 enthusiast but im planning to get a dvd/navigation system soon with mp3 capabilities so it was better for me to get enthusiast. and yes the cloth seats in 06 is better than 03-05

ownin an 06 enthusiasts. i would at least get the enthus model...when i turn off the tcs man you get hella lot of wheel hop. for everyday drivin i think tcs is a must if you live in VA. VDC would be better and if you dont plan on doin much to the car i would definately go for the track model

BTW the 06 base comes with 18s standard. The touring gets 19s in the back. I got the 06 Redline. I wish I had gotten the Enthusiast for the TCS and limited slip differential. I don't regret getting this one though.

Unless they changed something since January the touring uses the same wheels and sizes as the base-enthusiast. The upgraded Ray's rims with 19's in the back are for the Track/Grand Touring.

There are some advantages to the base in my opinion in that there is a tremendous bang for your buck in that vehicle even at msrp (I got mine below invoice).

Most important... its the same engine under that hood.

the cloth seats are great, you get the h.i.d.s, you get stock 18's... and the ride comfort is increased versus some of the other packages due to suspension not being as tight(this isnt necessarily a pro to me but to some it would be, especially if used as a commuter car).

In addition... if you plan on upgrading your audio..its much harder to do that with the bose packages. If you're gonna put in your own navi or dvd or whatever u're not missing that.

Plenty of people on this forum have blasted the tcs and vdc systems and have tried to have them removed/dismantled or whatever the term is...

You can purchase aftermarket leather for about $600 for the pair on some web sites etc. if that's serious.

On the other hand those brembos are unbelievable, etc.

You're not gonna be unhappy whichever route you go. Very little buyer's remorse with this vehicle whichever platform you go with. Don't be ashamed of "only" getting a base if that's what your budget calls for.

I think the base will also have the worst resale value out of the bunch.

People are going to see that it doesn't have cruise control (does the 06 have vanity mirrors?) and be like

In any case, yes the base is still a really good deal since you are getting the same motor. And most of the time you will drive with VDC/TCS off unless the road is wet. But nevertheless, having that factory LSD is a very nice thing and it's not cheap to put one in yourself. Plus, the TCS you get with the enthusiast will probably help you out in more than one instance.

It goes away when you're forced to valet park, trust me.

Actually I think you really just love this car more and more. It doesn't get old for me.

Enthusiast has most bang for buck. I'd suggest it.

Personally I got the base because it was cheap. If I could have I would have gotten the enthusiast for the LSD, but I am very happy with my base model. I have had it for 6 weeks now and I still smile. The only thing I miss is cruise control, but no big deal.

Cruise control is really useless to me, coz i don't often drive long distance on freeway; But like you said, if you could, you'd have bought the enthusiast for the LSD, what make you think that the LSD is worth for $ or etc.?
Anybody has chosen or been looking for the enthusiast (or above trims) because of the LSD is welcomed to comment..too

I only wanted the 18's, and HID and the good cloth seats.

I love my Base 06. I really wanted the enthusiast but it was a little more than I wanted to fork out, so I went with the base and can't complain one bit. I love my car!! It is a joy to ride in everyday!
